It's Lonely at the Top

Rob’s Mustang post from earlier today got me thinking about Volvo’s "Lonely Supercar" spot. I don’t know exactly what it is about this commercial, maybe it’s the music, the way the fictitious exotic’s headlights look away from the sympathetic lady, or just how completely forlorn the pedestal-bound beast looks, but I think it’s great. Which current car commercial is your favorite?

I like the GT-500 commercial, where a German guy unloads the car and was like u didnt like any cars here in germany, and the dude is like I couldnt find any speed limits I liked in the US.

One of my favourites was a Volkswagen commercial a few years back, where the guy parks his car in a parking lot, walks away, and then you see a shopping car slowly rolling towards the car. It’s just about to hit it and he comes out of nowhere and takes the cart out, right off the screen. I know it’s a silly and simple commercial, but just the thought of that guy tackling a shopping cart at full speed makes me laugh.

I like the ’05 “Field of Dreams” commercial Ford did for the new Mustang. Every Mustang spot should have McQueen in it. They should remake that one for the new Bullitt. Among others, I like the ‘Stang spot of father and son doing doughnuts and burnouts, the Shelby GT-H police chase spot, an old one where a guy takes a test drive and destroys the car thru street racing then tells the dealership it’s the wrong color. I also like the Dodge Ram commercial “Hey that thing got a Hemi?…(race)… Oh, you meant the Charger” LOL. Hope I haven’t listed too many, but I think those are my favorite.
