What Does Your Dream House Look Like?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
For lots of car nuts, the garage is more important than the house. And the more square footage, the better. I don’t have that much stuff–it’s my cars that are the problem. Right now I rent a garage for my Mopar, and I’d definitely add more cars I had room for them (I love cheap, non-running project cars, but can’t stand to see them get wet). For my dream house, I’m thinking I’d want space for at least four cars. And, since I tend to like urban areas where land is at a premium, it probably makes sense to have the cars live on the first floor. I found a pretty good list of garage-oriented house plans here. Lots more pics after the jump.

Here is a website that specilizes in locating homes for people who want a home with ample parking for car collections.

I would like enough land that we could have a nice house with a 2-3 car garage, and then very close next to it a standalone shop with room for a lift or two and maybe an indoor wash bay, and definitely enough room for 4 or so cars. The toys could live there, and the daily drivers could live in the house garage. That would be cool!

I wouldn’t want an attached or first floor garage. Temptation would be way too strong to make that bolster the living space. In envision a separate garage, about 22 X 40 with a loft apartment above, set behind the house at the end of the drivway.

I want a massive garage, and a house with a kitchen, a couch, a toilet, and a TV.

This reminds me of a commercial a few years back.
.
It was talking about “car guys” and their priorities.
.
The camera started panning their house, starting with the garage, and
it went door, to door, to door, to door, etc.
.
It just kept panning, showing garage door, after garage door…
.
There must have been a dozen garage doors. Maybe more…
.
When it got to the last door, the camera continued on, and showed
the primary residence…
.
It was a camping tent!
.
I laughed out loud, and told my wife that I could live there!
.
She didn’t get it
