2010 Pontiac Sport Truck Revealed – You Pick The Name

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

We’ll be getting a much closer look at this new Holden Ute-based sport truck from Pontiac at the New York Auto Show in just a few days. Plus, John is having dinner with some of the Pontiac folks Tuesday night, so we should be able to get the inside scoop on this cool little hot rod (and yes, it’s getting the same 361 hp V8 used in the G8 sedan). But right now GM wants your help in choosing a name. Go here to give your input. And go to Left Lane News for a ton more pics.

It should be called the “Pontiac- El Mullet” and have an available “Fruit Picker SS” package.
361hp gas guzzling joke…

I named it PONTIAC PIONEER, But they will probably pick a name with a couple of dumb numbers in it.

I had a 1970 and 1979 El Camino and I loved them. I drove them for 20 years. Very handy and nice riding. I think this is way nicer looking than either of my old ones and look forward to having a new Pontiac “El Camino”. I may wait for the 400 HP version though. :-)

IF Pontiac is seriously looking for a name, then they should consider the name “CLOVIS”. Back in mid-late 1950’s they switched the Pontiac emblem from an Indian Head to an Indian Arrow Head, and while many times they have use car names that refer to the old symbol, they have yet to use a name that refers to the actual new symbol, IE: Arrow Head. “CLOVIS” is the name that was given to the very first Indian Stone Arrow Head. “Clovis” would be a fitting name for a new automobile that actually has the look of an Arrow Head, not to mention an emblem of the very product logo attached to the front of it.

Cool idea on the naming,But they’ll probably use something they thought of anyway.
I put El Poncho, Maybe El Maloo would give it the Australian theme, But like the idea of Chief in the name,Maybe Chieftan or Ramchief.
El Can-Am.

I say they should brand it as a GMC and put a 6 cylinder turbo in it and call it a Syclone

I called it the “La Camina” because it looks like a prettier version of the El Camino.

Oafman, that one slid by me till I read HSHJ’s reply. Very funny. Think the folks at Pontiac’ll catch it?

Since this is based off of the G8 and it is a truckish thing they should call it the ‘G8 Summit’.

im going to buy one the first time they are offered at my local dealership. everybody keeps running them down but it will be one of the few cars that wont be able to be “ran” down. i think me getting one of these sweet rides will add a nice touch to my pontiac collection.

God, you need a chainsaw to cut the negative karma in this blog.
-
Got a hint for those who think repeating the same post gets the point across better: it DOSEN’T, OK?
-
Repeating yourself, whether in type or spoken word is a sign of idiocy or mental illness.
-
Got something to say, say it once like an adult.

Another American POS? Why do people continue to burn their money? I’m ashamed that American companies continue to rip off fellow citizens and they b*tch when people buy imports? Remember GM and Fix Or Repair Daily, the customer is always right!!!
