NYIAS: Nissan Forum Leaks 2009 Maxima Photos
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
A day ahead of its unveiling in New York, the all-new Maxima is already all over the internet, thanks to the enterprising forum-dwellers at Supernissans.net! Up until yesterday, Nissan had only been doling out a few teaser shots of its new ride, hoping to save its big reveal for the Big Apple. Weet-woo. Click here to see them all.

Is there a sportier trim of this? biogger, sharper wheels? Or a different body kit?

I am anxiously waiting to see this car up close.
So far I’m very intrigued. Paddle shifters on the steering wheel, the redesigned dash, etc. Even the redesigned front grill looks elegantly stylish. I hope it looks as nice in person as it does in the photos.

…and what’s wrong with a Pontiac Grand Prix Eric? The last 2 generations of Grand Prix weren’t bad at all, and were styled quite nicely. I didn’t say I’d like it to look more like a Pontiac, if you read my post, I like certain design elements of the body. I just wish it didn’t have rip-off Civic taillights, the truck grille, and somewhat more normal headlights. That’s not an Infiniti presence. If I wanted that, I’d look to the G37 or the M45.

Yeah it has an INFINITI presence, And actually it is a beautifal looking car. Its a shame that you all live in the past. They designed a new car obviously they wont keep making the 1996 version forever now will they. I love the style it has cause its a refreshing change, The interior has a BMW influence it seems. I would get one despite the critics here, But it looks like anytime you post a new car nobody likes it. It is in fact a blog but the ideas these people have are insane, its like they dont like any car but thier own. and thier own cars usually arent even worth looking at. so with that said go out and get money, then get a car you actually like instead of buying the cheap vehicles that you dont mod, then posting comments that no one especially the manufacturers care to read. they wont change it cause the car looks awesome. NORMAL people would like it. I guess they all should look like PONTIAC grand prix’s for you to enjoy them.

This car looks ugly, the current maxima looks good but not this one. Reminds me of the Daewoos from the 90s, trying to look good with a “unique” styling but lacking originality. At least it looks sporty.

When I bought my 1996 Maxima (which I still own with 216,000 miles) I fell in love with everything about the car. With the exception of the rust and certain cosmetic damage, it’s still a wonderful car to drive and a great car to look at. Over the years the Maxima made so many drastic and in my opinion, not to well thought out changes. The Altima became the car the Maxima should’ve become. Now I waited for many many months thinking, “My New Maxima is being introduced in March of 2009.” The hype was great, probably part of the problem, and the end result? They fixed what was wrong with the back of the car (the inset window, mainly at the base of the recent model) and in doing so messed up the front. I’ve heard so many people they see a Camry in the picture but regardless, it didn’t create a new identity, it simply borrowed from others. With the exception of those HVAC’s, the inside looks more like an infinity, a step up I might say, except for those horribly large, round, obtrusive HVAC’s! Sorry but I just don’t like ‘em. Onward…

The whole headlight design thing isnt doin it for me. But i like the rest of the car. And to Walt down there, just wondering, whats wrong with the HVAC being in the dash?

Please tell me someone leaked these photos as a joke. I heard for so long it was going to mimick the Mercedes C Class, not a Toyota Camry with a truck front grill. And even if you try to like the front, the headlight “tails” and the grill that doesn’t even align with the lights (and c’mon, that honeycomb pattern in the background). Maybe Nissan needs to hire some design people that actually talk with consumers as I can’t believe the design of this car (oh, the HVAC’s on the dash also — gag!) was run by anyone on the outside of Nissans close knit inner corporate circle.

Something about the headlights, QX56 grille and Civic taillights I’m not too crazy about. The rest of the car, the way the body lines flow especially, are excellent.
