BMW 135i Coupe: STIs and Evos Better Watch Out
By Mike Musto
AKA Mr. Angry
Now here’s cool ride that calmly slipped right under the radar. It’s the new BMW 135i and let me tell you: this little bad boy is no joke. In fact, it may even make some 3-series owners rethink their purchases. The 135i is powered by the same twin-turbo six cylinder that lives in the 335i. That means 300hp and 300lbs of torque in a nice rear-drive pint-sized package that incorporates a slick 6-speed manual tranny, 18" wheels, and an interior that’s truly top notch. Plus you can get options like integrated mobile phone with bluetooth technology, iPod hook-up and all the other bells and whistles that you’d get on a standard 3-series.
Size-wise, it’s actually not that small. Interior room is just a tad smaller than that of an STI and the price is exactly the same: 35k. Pictures just don’t do this little strudel wagon justice. It’s cool, manreally cool. And if our recent popularity contest between the 135i and the STI is any indication, Subaru’s got something to worry about. See more…

that rear end looks like a late ’90s Hyundai Accent.
not a good image for BMW.

I assume the bulge and/or sag that’s apparent along the PS rocker was caused by the extreme wide-angle lens, right?

Is it me or does this look like an Accord? And the Accord reminds
me of the older Saturn L300 cars, uh oh..

I like it, but something about the rear end kind of puts me off.
