Hottest Rides in Movie History?
By David
aka Highspeedhijinks
Yahoo Movies decided that they were going to do a top-ten list of the "Hottest Rides in Movie History." I have to say, I’m just not feeling most of what’s on their list. They’ve got the Batmobile in the number 3 spot, but it’s definitely not the one you’re thinking of. The Bullitt Mustang isnt even in the top 3—that’s just blasphemy. The list isn’t all bad, though. Bond’s Austin Martin DB5 made it, along with one of my favorite movie cars, the Ferrari 250GT California from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. One look at this list and you know that it was obviously put together by a movie buff and not a car guy. What movie cars do you think should’ve been in this list?

I like a few of them, but the Mini? it’s not a Mini! it may be badged as such, but it’s like calling a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle a Bug. It’s just insulting. Happy to see Bullit in there. There are better choices, but they did cover themselves with SOME of the hottest.

I liked the Supra from the first Fast and the Furious better than that 350Z.

i would have to say the car that charlie sheen drove in “THE WRAITH” its a dodge turbo interceptor and there was only one built DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THAT MOVIE? if u havent then u should watch it.. its from the 80’s but it still rocks its all about racing and charlie sheen is a wraith that gets killed and comes back from the dead to get revenge on the people that killed…he races them in the TURBO INTERCEPTOR and kills them in it…

Ghostbusters: Ecto-1
Bullit – Mustang
Transfomers – The Peterbuilt(Nothing cooler than a semi with flames) or the Camaro
Back to the Future – Delreon(sp?)
Fast and Furious – Dodge Charger(1st movie) or Nissan Skyline (2nd Movie) or Yellow and Black RX-7 (3rd movie)
Smokey and Bandit – Trans-Am

Well that dumbass has got one out 10 right the Fairlady 350Z from Tokyo Drift is one sweet ride but all the others come on they all suck. The Supra in the first FATF, how bout the Skyline in FATF 2.I kinda like those movies but this list should have all the Bond movie cars in it seriously they were so hi-tech it made BMW and Mercedes look like Ford’s no offence to Ford lovers.

How about any of the cars from American Grafitti? Or the converted Stingray in DeathRace 2000?

How about 1976 Ford Torino Starsky and Hutch, yes another old schooler.List should be more then 10 cars, and the 10 they have r probably the worst 10 that ever made it in the movie industry.

We all missed one too, me too, 1970 Dodge Charger Fast And Furious, if they really had to go with Fast And Furious this would be their best bet.

How about Dodge Monaco 1974 Blues Brothers John Belushi & Dan Aykroyd:)))
))
))
Mad Max Australian Ford Falcon, Mel Gibson
All Taxi movies including American version, Crown Vic and BMW 760il were hot too.
Audi R8 “I, Robot”
Ghostbusters ECTO 1
Batman old version “The Caped Crusader”
Mach 5, movies “Speed Races” new one just coming out.
Ferrari testerosa from Miami Vice, old school.
But General Lee from Dukes, Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and KITT thats unforgetable
They have left out or missed some of the best cars, i think they deserve the place in TV series called “What were they thinking?”

So…I went and looked at the list. I only liked one car out of the entire list and that was the Camaro. That has got to be one pathetic excuse of a list if you ask me. I agree, they should stick to reviews…even though those too are half-assed.

Oh ya, How about the Lamborghini Murcielago that Jason Statham drove in the Transporter 2! Or even better, how about the Indy cars from DRIVEN? Those were even driving on the street, tell me that wasn’t bad ass!

OK, some of those I’ll go with, like the Ferrari 250 GT from Farris Bueller’s Day Off, but how are they going to throw in the Nissan 350Z? I don’t give a shit how bad ass it is, it was in a stupid ass movie where it wasn’t even the nicest car in the flick. I would easily pick the RX-7 that got totaled over that! Or even better, pick the Supra or the Charger from the original Fast and the Furious. And how are they going to put a list of great movie cars and not include “THE” ELEANOR!?!?! David’s right on this one, they need to stick to the movie reviews and leave the car reviews up to us car guys!

I’d also include the Thunderbird from American Graffitti – can’t help it! but Herbie? Why not Chitty-chitty-bang-bang then? LOL!!

That list blew, every car on it sucked save for the challenger from VANISHING POINT (Fuck Grindhouse) and the Bullitt Mustang. I’d like to meet the asshole(s) who put that terrible list together.

Glad to see Bullitt made the list as well as the Challenger from Vanishing point, but I have one question: Hey, where’s Eleanore???

That car in stroker ace that they drive around withoout a front wheel.
OR the vanishing point challenger

The Bandit should of been in there, as should Christine. My favourite movie car of all time however is the 1934 Ford 3-window coupe driven by Martin Sheen in The California Kid. That Hot Rod is simply awesome.

how about the AE86 from Initial D ?
well at least the vanishing point challenger is in the top 3
but why the Z from F&F ? should be either the Supra or the Charger.
and like bewolverine2 said : bandit one should be in it.

David,
I did a poll a while back on something very similar, if interested, you can see it here http://993c4s.com/?p=75
I completely agree with you. The list was definitely not put together by a car guy.
Kudos though on including “Herbie the Love Bug”!

To me, the #1 Movie Car would be Mad Max’s Australian Ford Falcon.

I LOVE that car.

And, I don’t care if the blower is functional or not…

That car is just too damn cool!
