What Do You Collect?

By Ron

aka WayTooFurious

I’m looking forward to next week. I am expecting to take delivery of two new trucks that are going to be joining the Charger in the garage. One’s a 1948 F-1 and the other is a 1956 F-100. The beauty of these old Ford trucks is that they’re in show room condition, but they won’t cost me a penny in gas or maintenance. Okay, they’re not exactly "real"—they are actually die cast models. What I have noticed over the years is that car nuts like myself typically have other aspects to their automotive hobby. For myself and a few other friends, it’s cars and die cast models. There are some people that I know who collect car badges, while others I have heard of collect carburetors. Of course we all have other interests outside of cars, but I think it’s great to be able to do something car related on the days when you can’t go to a car show or work on your vehicles. Do you have something that you collect as an extension of your car hobby?

I have a collection of Buick stuff…
.
Things like all the advertising videos, tapes, and the promotional materials that dealers used when my RoadMonster was being sold in showrooms.
.
Also, I collect Buick banners, flags, signs, etc.
.
In addition, I collect anything car related to make my garage look cool:
.
Pepsi Vending Machine, Corona Lamp, Refrigerated Drinking Fountain, Stainless knee activated sink, metal signs, neon signs, etc…
.
Anything and everything I can get to make the RoadMonster’s home
more comfy ;)
.
Those things, along with a few car forums and Cardomain make the winter survivable…

I collect bills and put them on the kitchen counter. We’re running out of counter space.

I collect certain parts at the junkyard that I know will sell well on eBay. I kinda see ‘em as paying for my junkyard habit. But a lot of the time I don’t get around to listing them, so they just pile up.

Hot Wheels cars. I have 400 out of the package that I played with as a kid, and about 200 still in the packages (complete 1998, 1999, and 2000) first editions..plus others.

I haven’t collected them in a while, because they just don’t seem to be as nice as they used to be.
