Viva Las Vegas: Number One With A Bullet

By Jen Dunnaway

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a car at a show with bullet holes that aren’t the silly stick-on kind. This battle-scarred Ford farm truck is the real thing: owner Rich rescued it from a ranch near Carson City, NV. Though it started life as a four-banger, it’s now running this droolworthy flathead. Enjoy!

the bullet holes are probably from the farmer’s boys, that’s how it is on my grandpa’s farm. all the old equipment that gets parked in the woods, the combines, manuer(not sure on spelling) spreaders, ‘57 buick special, the old IH pickup, the Dodge flatbed, they all have holes in them from the “younger” generation (my grandpa’s sons and nephews). That’s how it is on most farms, any old equipment parked in the woods is gonna have holes in it

Target practice? Maybe. But I wouldn’t be surprised if this thing was hauling moonshine back in the day either.

I like it I wouldn’t change a thing on it.

The bullet holes are novel, but when I see things so rough I see something that needs to be completed. Yeah sure I know rat rods have their own following.

I am really curious though, about how it was shot up like that. I see 8 holes at a glance. Not a hunting accident for sure. This thing was targeted, I guess maybe something to shoot at for practice while it sat broken for many years…
