As for looks, it's a matter of preference. As for function, that depends on the car. The Superbird for instance was a race bred car and needed its wing and nose cone to perform. It's still one of the most aerodynamic production cars ever produced with a coefficient up there with the best of them. The Trans Am Boss 302s kept their wings and sport slats because they did generate downforce, however minimal. Fast forward 30 yrs and take a look at the '00 Mustang Cobra R. I don't think it could have been the fastest Mustang ever produced without its wing and splitter. Wings and spoilers both deserve their place. My Spirit R/T was equipped with a functional chin spoiler and a non-functional trunk lid spoiler. Looks good there. But if I wanted something functional on either of my Spirits so I could go race, I think I'd need something other than a lip spoiler however disastrous it might look. One problem I have when playing on interstate on ramps is loosing my rear end. That usually happens when the speedo is between 55-60. I don't get too much understeer because the power is being applied to the wheels that are doing the turning and I added a monte carlo bar to discourage roll. I could fix this in another way, but why spend the money and time convert to AWD when an ugly wing would do? Granted, I would like to do an AWD conversion on a Spirit or Shadow someday. I just don't have the resources right now.

As said before it really depends on the car for example a show car or a car that gets some racing on the street or weekends i think it's ok and might even look sexy like the lotus exige (though it comes from factory it's still a wing) but if u really dont need the wing then just use a spoiler
Anyway there isn't a wrong opinion or point of view.

I don't mind the look of most OEM spoilers, but honestly, unless you have a dedicated race car your fooling yourself if you think a spoiler adds to performance. The Mopar Performance Chassis book even says that they don't have a significant effect until around 100MPH. I will take factory performance literature tested and written by engineers over the anecdotal evidence from peoples personal experience. The fact that most the spoilers I see are on front wheel drive cars is interesting to, because if I am not mistaken most front wheel drive cars suffer from under-steer, and adding downforce to the rear seems like it would worsen this condition.

Wing, Wings, Wings. Where do i start...Lets make a long story short. If your speedometer not gonna see over 120 mph on a regular basis, PLEASE do NOT put it on your ride. I have an EVO 8, and the one of the first thing i did was to get rid of that wing, it looks much sexier W/O it.

i love wings that go with the car like the following wings : eclipse turbo wing,3000gt high sl wing and 99 vr4 wing, celica gts, supra wing, STI, EVO, skyline gtr even the civic si wing and the rsx type-s wing. These OEM wings that go with the body and distinguish the "performance cars" from the stock base cars are great...other then that they're mostly ugly

if u gonna wing it, make sure it fits the car. i like wings, even the overlly large 1's on sum cars, but i hate winds that dont mount evenly to the car or are placed to far foward or back of the trunk. that is stupid. its all in the car too. u dont put a wing on a station wagon (seen it b4)! now a skyline gtr with a massive wing dont look to bad.
