Another Crash on James Bond Set
By David
aka Highspeedhijinks
A stunt driver was severely injured on the set of the new James Bond flick, Quantum of Solace. On a winding lakeside road in Limone sul Garada, Italy, two stunt drivers were filming a chase scene in an Alfa Romeo 159 when they hit a truck and then careened into a wall. The wreck left stuntman Aris Comninos, who was airlifted to a hospital in nearby Verona, with severe head trauma. His co-driver was reported as being only slightly injured. The crash comes on the heels of the incident Saturday in which a stunt driver crashed Bond’s prized Aston Martin DBS into the lake, fortunately suffering only minor injuries. It’s a shame to hear about these professionals getting hurt, but holy crap, this sounds like it’s gonna be a great chase scene. More on CNN.

It’s alarming having two accidents like that. My first concern is that people people leave survive the shoots, first, with little or no injury.

In this day and age, CGI can accomplish more than enough to both get the shoots needed and keep the stunt men safe. I think there’s little room for excuses anymore for this, especially twice.
