What Did You Do This Weekend?

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

The weather in Seattle has been terrible for the last few months. Seems like every time I’ve had a moment to take the Mopar out it’s been raining. But yesterday I finally had an opportunity to take it for a cruise and clear out the cobwebs. Here’s a short video of its first start in two months (I’d actually cranked it a bit without giving it any gas to build up some oil pressure–that’s why it catches so fast). And anyone with an old Mopar will know what I’m doing with the shifter–working it through the gears before shifting into reverse. This fills the torque converter up to avoid the dreaded clunk. From there I backed it out of the garage and let it warm up for a few minutes. Pretty exciting, huh? So what did you do this weekend?

I picked up a project car for $500. Its a 99 Neon R/T I believe that it has a spun rod bearing. I’m going to get a used engine or a new short block. The car is spotless no rust can’t wait to get it started. -Justin

I put my 18″ Chrome Wheels on My Gen One CRX, Then I realized it looked stupid, then going down the driveway, I also noticed the front passenger side fender wouldnt clear the wheel… It didnt get very far… and it also didnt last long, as I took them off about 5 minutes later…

Well I tried my hand at upholstery work. I removed the rear seats and packing shelf of the old buick and cleaned the trunk out. I repainted the trunk with speckel paint and cleaned the vynil mat.

Most of the work came in fabricating the new shelf. I stripped it, made a new template, wrapped it in foam, then worked the vynil over it. Sounds easy right ? Check my page out next week when I get the pictures posted.

I had off on Friday and with no kids around to take me away from my work, I refinished my Firebird’s dashboard and console top in white to match the body. It involved removing a lot of stuff but I stopped short of removing the dash, believing It was a little easier to shoot the dash in the convertible with the top down. Honestly, if it were a hard top, I probably would have bit the bullet and removed the dash. Anyway, the finished product looks KILLER and adds to the uniqueness of the car. See for yourself… check it out and drop a message in my guestbook if you wish.

Gorgeous Saturday in Seattle. Washed the M5…looking for every opportunity to caress it with my bare hands…was really enjoying it till my wife walks by and says “we have other cars too you know…”….so I washed her car too. And then it rained on Sunday….oh well…
