I feel the need to point out that the last thing you want in a big crash is for the car to be ok! You want the body of the car to take most of the forces... Not you inside! Watch the video on youtube of them driving a smart into a concrete wall at 70 mph, the car is relatively intact considering (it has a crazy roll cage) but the people inside would have died due to the forces they took rather than the car taking it for them. As for the new v8's and gas issues, most of them now have the engine manager that will shut of 4 cylinders and they actually get close to the same milage as something the size of a corolla with a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder in it, remember 4 bangers rev alot higher to keep going so if a v8 can shut those useless cylinders off it can save the extra, not to mention it works less hard moving the weight of the car due to the torque it makes.
The problem with saying if you want this car you don't want gas milage is that Chrysler is in trouble right now because the Hemi is aimed towards the blue collar worker market. The guy with loads of money probably won't buy a new camaro, or challenger. They would either fix up the orginal cars and make them as nice if not better than the new ones or buy something BETTER. So gas milage is an issue and if chrysler doesn't pick it up soon they will be in the situation they were in quite a few years ago.

oh yeah, that car looks very fixable. but new cars today have alot more that could go wrong. race cars have very strong chassis.

If you choose to build, buy, or drive any Muscle Car or Street Machine then MPG is the last thing you really care about! If you care so much about MPG then go read and contribute to the Hybrid or boxed High MPG vehicle Blogs. I believe the U.S. Market is primed once again for our auto manufacturers to produce some real cars that deliver real HP to the REAR WHEELS! I will buy the gas at the pump and leave the rubber on the road! That will save the government some seal coat charges on the asphalt.

im a GM guy absolutly, i mean i drive an 05 GTO and have said "mopar no car" for a long time but i think dodge did a way better job with the challenger than chevy did with the camaro, when you see them both in person it really makes your mind up for you
