Aqua Velva Custom Car
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
I stumbled across this 1971 Aqua Velva contest in a thread over at Grassroots Motorsports. The grand prize was a custom car designed by Dave Puhl, which had previously been called the Illusion. The asymmetrical design with the funky engine/driver offset is pretty cool. You can see pics of the car being built and read an old Popular Customs article on the car here.

Has anyone tried to find out who won this car?, where the car might now be?, and if it even still exists? I remember it (not the contest) and thought it was a stupid design even then. But is it languishing somewhere in some garage?
