One Lap of America: Skid Pad Practice
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
Even though I’ve never run on a skid pad before, Rankins is interested in running me in the final skid-pad event of the One Lap tour—since the skid pad is all about pulling G’s, the lighter you are, the better. So we booked some pad time today at Carolina Motorsports Park so I could get a feel for things. Problem is, I’m kind of slow, pulling an average 12.3 seconds around the circle to Rankins’ 11.7. Though I did get faster in the 15 minutes we had booked, the driver for the Boxer4Racing STi for the final skid pad event is tbd.
