Corvette? Mustang? How About Both at Once?
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings Motor News
I thought I read this ad wrong the first time around–a Chevrolet 427 V-8 stuffed into an S197 Mustang? I know Roush had a 427R Mustang, so maybe the seller confused the two engines somehow.
But no, the pictures that Muscle Carz out of Houston, Texas, placed alongside the ad for this 2006 Mustang indeed show a Chevrolet LS-series engine in the unlikeliest of places. And according to the ad, it’s not your typical 7.0L–instead, it’s a Procharged C5R from the Corvette racing program built with billet connecting rods, a billet crankshaft and forged pistons to develop either 758hp at 6 psi or 1015hp at 18 psi. Oh, and a Corvette six-speed transmission right behind the engine. And 20-inch wheels, natch. All yours for just $70,000. Explanation why apparently not included.

I’m very muchly against putting a chev in a ford, or a dodge in a chev, or what ever combination people try to do other then puttin a chev in a chev and so on..i would think people with that kinda cash would atleast be in the right mind and have the money to do what ever they hell they want to do with the motor..putting a mix and matching motors with cars is like getting your wife a sex change, just stupid and wrong!

It’s A Really Nice Car Though, Even Though It’s A Ford Car With A Chevy Motor. I Guess The Ford Motors Arn’t Good Enough For Their Own Cars. lol, I Bet The Chevy Guys Are Just Lovin’ This…

Only way a ford will run. Is with a chevy motor in it. But for 70 grand?! NO THANKS!! ID rather buy a zo6, not some mustang for $70,000, that is like any other one out there. Seen one mustang, seen em all!

Talk about putting a boat anchor in a perfectly good car. The 427 Cobra is a much better engine hands down!

but, can it turn? races longer than a few seconds give you a better idea of the engineering behind a car.

i agree with bucky go to the strip and look under the hoods of some of those fox bodies and i bet you will see a chevy motor. same goes for hot rod and classic car shows look at some fords and you will see chevy motors.

Guys have been putting Chevy motors in Ford products since the moon and stars were created… Just go to any local drag strip and pop a couple Fox Body hoods

Best of both worlds there. Almost like a modern day hot rod, Ford body with a Chevy engine. Different that’s for sure!
