Gallery: Redneck Swimming Pools

Rob tells me that the "redneck swimming pool" gag is a total cliché, but I have to say I never knew that filling your tarp-lined pickup bed with water was actually that widespread a practice in real life—and I’ve hung out with my fair share of rednecks. But sure enough, and just in time for summer, the internet is awash with examples of redneck ingenuity. I even found a video where some kids took it to the next level—taking the redneck pool out for a drive—though their Ranger didn’t seem to retain much water between all the cannonballs and the (supposed) encounter with the cops. How about you pickup guys—ever done this, or seen it done? How did it work out? More pics after the jump.

This is an excellent way to stay cool in the middle of August heat for less than $5 for the plastic tarp. Dollar store purchased stuff is the best! Get 5 friends and it could be less than a buck a piece! Pocket change! My roommate has pics of his S-10 pool. A warning to small truck owners…. the weight of the water can really put a hurtin on some small truck suspension systems. Possibly destroying leaf springs. A couple of car Jack Stands under the frame could remedy that problem.

It’s all in the presentation… if it looked like a clean setup and had a bunch of hot chicks in there i’d jump right in too… these examples are a little to redneck for me…lol

I admit I have done this for my kids when they were 3 and 4. Our air conditioning was broken and I had a perfectly good Toyota Pick up in the drive way. They loved it, and I did not have to chase them around all day!

My wife just asked a question. Count down the photos (from the top) to number 6. She looked at it and asked, “Why does the guy on the right have three nipples?” I guess the only answer is . . . “You might be a Redneck, if you have three nipples.”

some friends of mine did this with their trucks at our high school car show, we hung out in the pool or the back of the other truck all day, it was a good time, we even made it into the newspaper.
