At Last: Jonathon Picks Up The Scion

Well, it’s been a little while—and by "a little while," I mean like, a year—since we were supposed to hook Jonathon up with his new Scion xD, but today, we finally made good on the deal. This morning, he hopped on a plane in Nashville, and after six long hours in the air, plus a sweet three-hour delay in Denver, he touched down in the Emerald City to claim his new ride. Originally, the contest involved trading your current ride for our Scion, but since we dragged our feet for so long—due in part to Sean’s unfortunate La-Z-Boy encounter—we decided to let him keep his AE86. I know, we rule. Jonathon was stoked to get behind the wheel of his new baby, and the two of them will have plenty of time to get acquainted, as he’s already headed home to Kentucky. When I asked him if he had a route planned out, he said he was just going to hit "go home" on his trusty Magellan GPS, and follow the directions, which I thought was cool in a throw-caution-to-the-wind kind of way. He said he’ll send us some photos of his trip when he gets home, and we can’t wait to see them. Good luck on your road trip Jonathon, and congrats again! We removed the decals from the car because one side apparently got pretty messed up in the accident and/or when the bodywork was done. And while editorial really wanted to keep the car, we felt we had to do something to compensate Jonathon for waiting so long. Don’t worry about our SEMA car, we’ve got some hilarious plans…

I was thinking about this not to long ago. I thinks its great that you gave him a car, but you guys kinda veered from the spirit of the contest. I was really hoping you’d take his AE86 and turn it into SEMA Gold. Also I was hoping that you would leave the decals on it for him to take off. Either way you guys did a good thing. Congrats Jon
