One smart Perspective
By John Coyle

Right before we were about to head out to lunch yesterday, Ryan spied a couple meter maid mobiles parked across from CarDomain World Headquarters, and he jumped at the chance to snap a picture of his smart next to them. While I knew his ride was tiny, I has no idea it’s actually smaller than the glorified golf carts the ticket fairies are rolling. Check out the detail shots after the jump.

I have read that the SMART doesn’t really get that good of gas mileage. From what I have read it doesn’;t get much better than other larger economy cars. And I agree with an earlier statement, I don’t think I would want to be in a wreck driving one of those.

I’m very pleased with the smart as a daily driver and as a car to pamper and mod. Having never owned a automatic I find that the SMG is a lot of fun and does well. The transmission has a little bit of a shift lag but its not unbearable. I was in the market for the Honda Fit but finally decided that I wanted the smart over the Honda!

Hey Ryan . . . is the car comfortable? I’m seriously thinking of buying a (smaller) high-mileage car. If gas heads towards $6.00 or $7.00 / gallon, I’m going to have to drive something much more fuel efficient. The Smart is cool, but – as a daily driver – is it good?

This weekend I will be hauling down the freeway in the smart and I plan on tailgating the truckers for the best gas mileage I can. I’m shooting for 40+ MPG in my 286 miles one way road trip!

I really like this little car, but I would be scared sh**less to be hauling down the freeway topped-out with an 18-wheeler in my rearview mirror(!).

Duuuudde, you gotta swipe one of those brush guards and put it on the Smart. Acctually someone should do a cop car rendering of Ryans Smart.
