What Did You Do This Weekend?

I was visiting with the family in Vancouver this weekend and I was sick as hell, but that didn’t stop me from getting dragged to the Coastal Swap Meet, the biggest of its kind in Western Canada. It was a huge indoor/outdoor deal with two aircraft hangars full of parts vendors and a corral of project cars for sale and even more parts booths outside. I’m accustomed to not finding anything applicable to my cars at these things—you don’t usually see anything for 80’s rides unless it’s Mustang or Camaro—but I like seeing what’s there anyway, rummaging through all those piles of junk. And contrary to my expectations, along with a pair of almost-free Rochester Quadrajets, I managed to pick up something little for each of my rides: a chrome "diesel" emblem (probably from a 70’s truck) for my diesel Escort, a specialty 1.6L and 1.9L Ford crank pulley wrench for my gas Escort, and a rare 1981 AMC factory manual for my Eagle. There really was something for everybody!

How about you? What did you do this weekend?

I brought my wife to the emergency room for a stomach ailment the doctors so far can’t figure out. This is the 4th time, and the 2nd time she’s been admitted.

I wish I could fix people as well as cars. This freaking sucks. I hope they at least find what’s wrong finally and fix it, damn it. The worst car problems are trivial compared to this. You can’t trade in your wife, I tried… lol.

Aside from that, replaced a cat on the ‘bird. After that when I hit a bump there’d be a thump thump thump. Took it to my mechanic, he put it on the lift, loosened up the flange and clamp, twisted the rear extension and wedged it up then re-tightened. No thumps, sounds beautiful and runs its ass off now.
