New Challengers Sent to the Crusher!

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Well, ok, they’re cars with major defects, test mules or other vehicles that can’t legally be sold. Still, it makes me want to cry. More at CanadianStreetCar.com.

Those cars are test mules, defect cars, and pre production that were made before crash tests and are not allowed to be sold.
Every company does it. Import and domestic.

they should just sell the bodies so people can use them for demolition derbies and racing modified or superstock cars….something to that effect where they will get banged up anyways…

I’d buy one, fix it up and trick it out for a hella good price if i were to get my hands on one, or if not drivable, trick it out and make it a sick showcar

You think imports don’t do that too? Look at the blog about Mazda destroying like 4000 cars that were street legal and such, because they sat at a steep angle on a boat for less than a week. It sucks, but at least they are cars that cannot be sold, and they are not classics. With the price of scrap steel right now, so many old classics are being crushed. I just rescued a ’62 Ford Fairlane from the crusher yesterday, sadly leaving behind 4 Corvairs, a Corvan, a Corvair Rampside Pickup, a 58 Chevy Apache with 7 doors, a Plymouth Fury 2 door, a 47 Ford Pickup with a flathead V8, a Hudson Hornet and an old Nash. I am more saddened by the above old junkers than a few new Challengers getting crushed.

If Chrysler/Cerberus is serious about making pro-stock Challengers ready to buy, why not use these since they’re not going to see any street use anyway? *sigh* It’s no wonder the imports are trouncing the Detroit three, what a waste of money.
