Ode to the Valiant
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Seems like Darts and Dusters get all the Mopar A-body glory, but Valiants are pretty cool, too. Ok, so I’m partial–my first car was a ‘63 Valiant vert. So does this Elise look nervous or what? I have a bunch more pics after the jump, including the hero car from Duel, and a fuel injected and turbo’d /6 car. Thanks to Dan for all the pics!

yes there were a lot of curves on that course, and trust me, that Lotus WAS nervous! Thats Tim Werners Valiant

and the in-car cam from the Lotus

just past the 1 minute mark, you’ll see why he was nervous

The Valiant/Scamp/Dart was a great car and really brings back memories. I remember seeing them EVERYWHERE during the ’70s.

…but the Elise dosen’t look nervous to me, especially if there are a lot of curves on that course.

Slant 6 valiant is by far the most indestructable, customizable, and sleekest car ever made. End of story.

The green car above looks pretty nice. I liked Valiants too. In 1961 my dad bought a brand new red two-door coupe. That model year (and in 1962) it was a true hardtop and looked good with all four windows rolled down. Ours had the 225 slant six with push-button torqueflite. It wasn’t blindinly fast, but it was quicker than Vegas and Falcons. Of those two model years, the ‘62 was actually a better looking car but you don’t see either anymore.
