This evil-looking C3 Vette is awesome. Anyone know what country that plate is from? More pics after the jump. Source: VWVortex.

Hi, this is Giuseppe (Panic for the corvetteforum friends), i built the car…DB is right, this C3 is light and put on the scale she shows a healthy 2.750lbs mark. The engine has been successfully built by ‘American Speed’ of Ill., it’s a badass SB 406ci engine with 575hp at 6.300rpms…3 years and about 10.000 miles without the shed of a prob at all.
The car is registered in Spain, region Pontevedra (right on the northern atlantic spanish coast), and the H registrations means ‘historical’ which frees the car from beeing political correct at all…The owner (me) is italian from Sorrento, I’m living in Spain since 4 years now.
Oh, and thenaks for the nice comments.

I found this on CarScoop and the Spanish site Motorpasion is getting a kick out of us talking about the origin of the plates. They did confirm it is Spain.

Where ever the plate is from doesnt matter to me. It just matters that there are awesome people overseas that appreciate American Muscle and keep bad ass rides like this one the street.

One thing you guys can’t see from the pics is how light that car is. The owner has shaved of a lot of weight, by doing things like gutting and shelling the doors. It’s easily one of my favorite Corvettes, and the owner is a super nice guy who I’m please to call a friend.

Hey Steve,
I hate to disagree with you, but that is a Spanish plate. Italy does not have a province/district that they would have utilized the “H” letter. With that being said, they have used the “PO” letters but if I remember that would have been long before the year of the front vehicle with the PO designation.
Now I am not questioning that the owner may have the car in Italy or that he is Italian. If you can, email the owner and see what input he can provide.
What are we betting on this?
Thank you,
Mike

That plate is from Italy. The owner is a member on the corvetteforum and he recently finished his new paint scheme – flat black – as you can see. I personally love this vette as it’s different than what you tend to see in corvettes. It isn’t a correctly restored c3, but a tastefully done resto-mod. He had the front bumper cut open, created a custom grill, and then molded the front bumper and rear bumper. He also wanted the flares to appear similarly to a corvette race car with the bolts holding the flares. Great job on the car panic!

Overall, I absolutely love this car. It’s taken me a while to get used to satin finish paint jobs, but it looks really great on this ‘vette and helps it along with the goal of looking very mean.
-
I love the huge amount of rubber under it and really like the wheel fender extensions… it’s all badass stuff.
-
What I’m not thrilled with is not seeing a frontal shot showing the whole car. That’s very annoying because I want to take in the appearance of the modified nose with the rest of the car. It’s very important, at least to me because changes as drastic as removing the pop-ups and especially opening the lower grill NEEDS to be seen with the entire car, otherwise it can’t be fairly judged.
-
I gotta reserve judgement on the nose mods. Not enough information to like or dislike it. The rest is awesome though.

OK, well I know VWVortex pretty darn well, and I did look at the thread. It is the FLARES they are talking about, not the PAINT, when they made JDM references. The flares make it closer to a JDM appearance.
VWVortex guys know what they are talking about when it comes to paint. Seriously, there are MANY flat/satin rides on that site.
P.S. That is a satin black, it’s not totally flat like most of the old hot-rods.

Looks like Bat Man built himself an older ‘Vette.
.
I like it.
.
And VWVortex guys…get a clue!
.
.
I like the theme that they went with on this car…
.
Nice job!

The flat black paint originated with old hot rodding (40’s and 50’s), and it was actually primer. Because all hot rods were built more for speed and little budget, many hot rods just stayed in primer because it looked good enough and paint was too expensive. JDM…please.

Ok, I made out the plate of the car in front and this car, based on the license plate of the car in front, is located in the Pontevedra province/state in the north west corner of Spain above Portugal.
I will work on the street address next, anything else?

WOW! some idiots on VWvortex are saying that the Flat Black paint job is JDM? How stupid and Ignorant can people be? I am pretty sure that Hot Rodders where putting flat black on there cars about 40 years before the first Japo car came to the states. If these idiots are going to talk like they know stuff about cars they should probably educate themselves on where Modified cars came from. THEY should probably stick to there Euro cars and leave the American cars to people that actually know what they are talking about.

That is a Historical plate from Spain. If you can read the plate on the car in front of it I can tell you which province/state also. My eyes are shot and can not see it.
What do I win?

I was just wondering about the paint finish too. It looks almost like a semi-gloss finish. Matt paint tends to look ‘flat’, but this cars finish is beautiful.

alot of custom bodywork.. and is that matte paint?
