Nissan EXA Gets on Dyno, Swings Wide

By John Coyle

Editor

I’ve seen plenty of videos where cars jump off the dyno, but this is the only one I’ve seen where it looks like someone actually could have gotten really hurt. This Nissan EXA—or Pulsar in Stateside speak—comes off in a big way, nearly clipping the wall and the dude standing next to it. Yikes.

Ya that is totally unacceptable. Man if that was my car being dynoed I would have nobody standing right next to my car and all 4 corners would be strapped down TIGHT! I have no need for a fruitless lawsuit cause I hit one of my buddy’s dynoing my car.

Strapped, not strapped…by the way, if its awd…why arn’t the rears off the ground or on rollers of thier own??? No matter, I guess the vid was too sickening to watch once the car found instant traction pressed against the dude on the wall. EEEEeeewwww! Crunch!

A front wheel drive not strapped in the front WTF! I wouldn’t stand in front of a car on the dyno even if it was strapped at all four corners.

Dont worry, they have extremely hot staff from the look of things you can at least watch while your crushed.

With the way that video cuts off right before the bad stuff happens I think it was edited on purpose. They either cut out the guy getting mangled, or else it is strapped in the back and the car stopped sliding once it fell off the front roller and they cut it there to make it look more deadly.

First of all, it’s entirely possible people WERE hurt. The video cuts off right as the DS tire leaves the rollers. From that point on, it’s HELLO MOMENTUM time. Not only was the dude right next to the car in peril, but the others standing to his left.

A fraction of a second before the video cuts off, you can hear the tire start to squeal on the platform. The car could have been tied down in the back (hope so), and that would be the only thing standing between those people and disaster. I didn’t hear an wind-down so I assume it was still going strong right to the end of the video.

If I had someone dyno one of my rides, he better know what the hell he is doing. As I mentioned previously, there’s no good excuse for a car to leave a dyno… none at all. If an operator has any doubt, he shouldn’t run the thing. It’s a piece of testing equipment. Throwing caution to the wind is for the road if anywhere, not the shop.

That’s what they get for NOT strapping it down.
