1979 Spitfire with a V8!

Little British cars are awesome, the only known drawback? They’re little British cars, so generally, you don’t want to drive them anywhere you couldn’t easily walk home from. That’s why I love to see people drop big, sturdy American V8s in them, and G-Man47 has done a hell of a job with his ‘79 Spitfire. The custom grill looks sick, and I really dig the way the 350’s air cleaner is poking out of the hood. Head over to his page for some detailed shots of the build.

I don’t know why British cars get such a bad rap. I have owned 5 total still have 3 one being restored, and only once have been left walking because of the cars fault! And then I was almost home and coasted into the driveway (threw a rod). Not to say things don’t go wrong I have always been able to fix things then and there, they have been simple.

Robert, call me a quisling(Norwegian politician: Vidkun Quisling, who assisted Nazi Germany to conquer his own country for all you thickos!)but I’m afraid you are talking B****cks. WE DON’T MAKE ANY FAST CARS! Look at all the eqivalent British vs American ie the E-Type vs Corvette..no comparison. Our cars were too small and too slow. Yank Tanks are big, agreed…but they’re simple, reliable and if you forget the smog motors they’re also very powerful and big on torque. Most of us here in ‘Britania’ are now used to the high revving, screaming Jap type engines(sad) I bought an ‘04 impreza STI brand new and was so dissapointed with it, I swapped it for a new Ford mondeo Diesel Auto, which felt much much quicker! I have modded many cars in my time, and have to agree with Stewart…engine wise, go american! I am currently building a ‘Dart 400′ 4-bolt mains, alloy headed engine with a Dyers 6-71 blower for my 1959 F-type Victor. Power is expected to be around 600bhp(useable) To get that from a UK or Jap engine would cost a fortune and the car would be totally undriveable. So Robert..maybe when it’s finished I’ll race you for V5s (pink slips to you Americans) The old saying stands to this day …there aint no substitute for CCs

Oh, I owned an MG… What a piece of crap…

I did learn to work on cars as an MG owner, cause the damn thing
was broken down more than operable.

Also, I know why you guys drink warm beer.

You Americans are so bloody stupid. Why can’t your greasy hands leave such great cars alone. But I mean what do I expect from American Motoring?… Nothing that even has any power. Keep your fat ugly cars and we’ll keep the fast cars.
