Paul Brown Is Fast

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Paul Brown had some of the best times at Buttonwillow this weekend, behind the wheel of several different cars. He took first place in the Shop Varsity class with the LS7 Morgan, and second place in the same class with the GT3 Cup Porsche (you can see the full results here). Scott Lear got a ride around the course with Paul and said it was an eye opening experience–Paul knows how to use every inch of the track. Lots of pics of the Morgan and Porsche after the jump.

Sorry Bruce. Still waiting for official results. That’s what I had in my notes, but I guess I had the wrong info. I’ll go back and revise once I have the official results from the GRM guys.

Inaccurate reporting.

Not to diminish Paul’s certain talent, but it was Ernesto Roco who scored the fastest time in a Griggs GR40 Mustang, a 1:47, within a tenth of Paul’s Morgan, and second fastest was a new driver Darrel Anderson. In the as delivered, street legal GR40TT that Paul drove one session, Guy Cunningham in his second lap in the car drove to its fastest time, a 1:59, nearly equaling the American Iron track record.

All Griggs Cars were run on DOT tires, whereas most competitors were on Slicks; Paul’s Porsche and Morgan among them.
