Why does this scenario remind me of the EV1?

I have a friend who has done research into using hydrogen to run a regular car. He drives a Tracker that runs on either gas or a combination of gas and hydrogen. Using the extra power from the alternator you can produce hydrogen while driving and feed that into the engine. On some of his tests he has more than tripled his gas mileage. I am hoping to work on my 1997 Suburban using the same priciple. With luck I can get 40-60 mpg using this process while still using the original V-8.

For 1 I'm sure they looked at the effect it would have on the enviroment. I dont know how you could see Water as being worse then what cars emit right now. 2 this isnt like the Hindenburg and its not gonna explode at first contact with anyhting. I'm sure if they are on the assembly line its becuase it has passed all saftey standard tests.

Oh that and water is one of the most manipulative chemical compounds out there, so I wouldn't worry about an over abundance of it. (take organic chemistry)

i hope highspeedhijinks is kidding hahaha. Think about all the crap our current cars (millions of them) are putting out. Ya maybe it's not liquid form but gaseous form is still significant. And Derrick, I hear ya. They may be ugly but they're the first to step it up and make them.

yet another ugly econ-o-box, why can't they design something that would appeal to the redneck in all of us?

I dont like the fact that these cars produce water and release it into the air. Here me out on this one. If you muliplied that by the millions of cars on the road all emitting say a gallon of water for every 200 miles. Then we just might effect our weather from the increased amount of moisture in the air or pooled up on the ground. Its not a problem if the technology isnt to mass produced but do you see where Im going with this. They should think about a catch can at least.

Hmmmm... can't wait till one of those gets hit and turns into the largest fireball to hit the freeway since the Pinto.

Thank God someone is producing a hydrogen car.
That's where my money is for the future of the auto industry.
