What Did You Do This Weekend?

I spent most of the weekend wrangling with my parts car. I’ve pulled the manifolds, starter, radiator, fan, cylinder head, and water separator. I even pulled the gnarly injection pump, which looks like of like a carb from the middle ages. I battled with the transmission for most of Sunday afternoon, but it’s hung up and won’t break loose. Worse yet, the one remaining motor mount is busted so the engine wants to bring the whole assembly crashing out onto the floor. It’s kind of an unstable situation.

I drove my family 1/2 way to Georgia (NC), then drove back. Everytime I pass DC I wonder why the hell people live there. As far as I’m concerned, the quality of life is in the toilet when you spend so damn much of it in traffic. I’d rather deal with NYC than DC any day of the week. Been to both many times, only hate one ’cause of the horrendous traffic.

When I got back, I spent Sunday and Monday refurbishing an Acura Integra for a friend. Just finished it. Painted the nose & rear bumper, cleaned the interior, clarified & clearcoated the headlights, gunked the engine compartment, fixed wheel well rust, removed some dents, painted the replaced, green rear view mirror white to match, painted the wheel covers in base coat silver then clearcoated ‘em. The car looked like a rusted POS, now it looks like a much newer and better cared-for POS. I drove it, it runs good but I just don’t like it for what it is, although it looks nice now.

I was at the Gratiot Cruise out here in Michigan and I saw a bunch of sick cars, a couple of the new Challengers and even a yellow Vette ZR1 without any camo it was insane!
