What about diesel cars(something between 1.0L-4.0L) and trucks(something between 3.0L-5.0L with either a I-4 or V-8)

1. What is the budget for Warren every year? I think a lot of people don’t realize how much money GM spends on design, engineering, and development. Lithium ion battery vendors were not pushing series hybrid technology at SAE this year. What gives?

Why are so many modern automakers not offering manual transmissions in more and more cars?

Here’s one: Why is it so easy for foreign GM divisions in Australia and Europe to make great cars, and so hard for GM in America to make them? Short of the Malibu, virtually every good car they make was either designed and built somewhere else (G8) or HEAVILY influenced by the Euro divisions (Saturn). Why can’t Detroit design something original on it’s own?

Will the G8 GT be offered with a manual transmission?

This may seem strange but… but What does he recommend to students who aspire to be in the automotive industry to help bring only the best products to market? or in other words, What is his advice to a student who might aspire to be him/in his position, but in a more technical sense?

Thanks!

What does GM plan to accomplish in the near future as far as consumer satisfaction is concern’d. With all of the import’s bragging impressive fuel economy and “impressive quality”, it must make it hard to introduce a domestic vehicle that will catch the eye of those looking to buy. Regardless of the brand, there is such an overabundance of vehicles sitting in any dealership across north america. So what does GM plan to do to get more north american drivers behind the wheel of a good home built car? Keep in mind that low intrest rates and fancy plastics can only go so far. Could there be any colaberations with more auto makers as a possibiltiy to boost the strength of our good old home built pride?

Are there any plans in the works for an affordable 3-Series fighter for either the Pontiac, Chevrolet, Buick or Saturn brands? By 3-series fighter, I mean a driver-centric midsized (Malibu or G6 size), rear wheel drive sport sedan and coupe featuring something like GM’s new direct injection V-6 mated to a manual transmission?

Another:

What is the current branding strategy? Many enthusiasts (including myself) feel as though GM could do away with many brands (Pontiac and Buick being my main two). Buick seems to only be successful with the dying population and those people in China. What about making the Buick brand exclusive to China and saving the money over here? The Pontiac brand is just re-badging at it’s worst degree, and even though the G8 is an excellent step in the right direction, is that really enough to justify another brand?

Awesome that you get to have dinner with bob Lutz, what an opportunity! Tell him that I say “Hi” and that I want his job when he retires.
