Beyond Angry: Broken Wheel Sends Daytona Back to NY
By John Coyle
Editor
Well, this just sucks. Sometime before we hit our lunch checkpoint at the Great Northern Bar and Grill in Whitefish, Montana, the Daytona sustained major wheel damage which left it unable to continue. Mr. Angry will be rejoining the rally tonight—he’ll be driving a rental for the remaining legs—but the Daytona is getting shipped back to New York for repairs. At the driver’s dinner before the start, Mike told me that he’d never had a car which fought him so much, and unfortunately, it looks like this project just didn’t want to run in the rally. I’ll get all the details from Mike when I see him in the morning. Stay tuned!

The fusion will go the distance – who knows, maybe he’ll get one of his own and add the twin-turbo 3.7L from Lincoln?

That wouldn’t have happened if he had stuck with stock rally’s, good tires, and not some shitty aftermarkets. Don’t get offended I like the looks of the wheels, but they don’t belong on the market if they can’t hold up.

What a stupid comment. Maybe you should fuck off and die.

Let it Die? What a shit fer brains statement.
-
The car is basically NEW after all Angry did to it. He practically invented that car from what I read about it.
-
Let me see you make something even half that radical, and how far what you create would go.
-
Freshly-constructed, heavily modified rides need to be run… tested and proven before competition. Dosen’t sound like Angry had much time for that. Certainly dosen’t mean the car’s on its last legs, quite to the contrary. Just gotta work out some post-development issues that happened at a bad time.
-
It’s bad enough he gotta finish the run with a different ride. Don’t bash his work and rub salt in the wound.

I feel so bad for Mike and Pete having worked so hard on the Daytona. I hope they get right back onto their feet and enjoy what the Bullrun has to offer.
Good luck Team Angry!
