Bound to Happen: Totally Lame Wrong Turn
By John Coyle

Wednesday morning, I left the Wynn with team Jeep at just after nine, and we headed toward Spring Mountain Motorsports Park for a track event. Or, at least we thought we headed toward it. The complex was less than 60 miles from the hotel—basically around the block in Bullrun-distance—but due to some some mind-numbingly bad navigational error, we missed a turn, and wound up 50 miles off course. Given the insane distances we’ve been tackling—we’ve already covered 2500 miles, and rumor is we’re looking at 1000 more—this kind of thing was bound to happen, but it still sucked big time. Spring Mountain runs advanced driving schools, and the track is supposed to be dead sexy. Unfortunately, I don’t have any first-hand knowledge of just how sexy it is, because by the time we arrived, the Bullrun drivers had finished their laps, and were assembling to start the next leg. But I did manage to find a video of the course—which really makes me wish I’d gotten to take a spin—and get some pictures of the track toys in the parking lot. Check them out after the jump.
