Bullrun 2008 Finish Line!

By John Coyle

Editor

After 3,714 miles and seven days of near-constant driving, I have crossed the finish line in Scottsdale. The Bullrun 2008 is over, and I don’t really know how to feel. I know I’m more tired than I’ve been in my entire life, but I also know that there’s no way I could sleep now. It doesn’t seem possible that tomorrow afternoon, I’ll wake up, go the airport, and fly home, but that’s definitely what’s happening, and it feels strange. I’ll have coverage of the the awards ceremony and a full full recap of the rally posted sometime next week, but right now, I’m going to go have a beer and soak up as much of this circus as I can. Bullrun!

Nice. I’ve been following your posts throughout the rally. Good stuff. I was at the finish myself, in fact, I think you almost ran us over charging towards the finish line (gray NC MX-5), haha. ;)

Here’s a link to my pics from the finish (and some from Thursday at Fesler). That’s all my stuff from Friday, but I still have a bunch of the Fesler pics to go through.

John,

Congrats on running the Bullrun, truely an experience that not all of us can say that they have experienced. Your reporting, and coverage of Bullrun has been nothing less than extraordinary! I enjoyed every report, and every photo that you posted up. Thanks for giving us the Bullrun Fans, something to look forward to during the rally!

Had my own taste o’ the BullRun experience this weekend. Got a 79 in a 65 zone ticket in Virginia. If they share points with PA, I gotta fight it and get it reduced. If they don’t, well I’ll just send da money most likely.

John,
I enjoyed following your escapades over the past week.
You have a great job, and as I said before, you are
a lucky man!
The week must have been quite a rush!
Get some rest buddy!

That bullrun seems so predictable with the genre of fast cars, manic and well…idiots. More fun on a track. It sure as heck sounds like fun of course. I would like to see a bullrun with real cars that don’t get glorified, hang onto an attribute undoubtable, and even famous, silently, whooshed away into the abused corner that marketing puts them in, for real people and thier real cars and a prerequisite of a 15 year daily driver with a gazillion miles reayd for just another crosscountry trip….THAT would be a godamned good feeling to see and witness: Truth time.
