Pagani Invents Carbon-Titanium
By Ben Schaffer
Bulletproof Automotive
I didn’t even know that I’d always wanted this until I found out that it could exist. The Man, Horacio Pagani, just discovered a way to mate my two favorite materials into one mega super crazy material. Carbon-Titanium is the new dream… too bad there’s no pics of it yet. Pagani invented this composite for his latest mega limited edition Zonda–the Cinque.
From the Pagani press release:
It will be the first Zonda to use the new Pagani invention, the carbon-titanium, a special fiber purposely created for the Zonda Cinque, which will be eventually used on the new generation models. This monster has 678 hp, 780 Nm torque, forged monolock titanium wheels, bolts and nuts will fully be done in titanium and boast the Pagani logo.

i love how car domain NEVER does ANY research for ANY of the stories they publish.

Holy sheiiit. Does that mean it will be lightweight and highly durable?

Im not a fan of the cars but the carbon titanium was a great idea. I wonder what the specs are on it…

This may be great but I could imagine its cost. That will make this thing impractical.

basically for those who dont know, carbon fiber is very strong material but very light but its pretty flexible and titanium is basically the same but its metal, and metal isnt very flexible obviosly…
this is like curing aids!

Is this the same material that was patented by William R. Kingston in 1995?

they squeezed a titanium into carbon. titty carbon for short. How titilating…I like the diagonal black meeting silver. All my cars failed there….even trucks have that fail zone in that color black.something tells me someone Thunk about this one…I like it. May learn something from it?

This car could look so much better with a few tweaks…

I am curious to find out how they made this alloy. It sounds like it has the potential for many uses beyond automotive use. 7urtle – you have to understand a bit about metalurgy and chemistry. Mixing carbon fiber with Titanium would give you an alloy that has the strength and light weight that Titanium has with the low cost and also lightweight benefits of carbon fiber. Essentially you can build a car with a body that is lighter and stronger than either traditional steel and carbon fiber by themselves. Another big factor in this will be the cost. Right now you can use straight Titanium to build a car body but the body alone would cost around $1 mil. That is why only the military and NASA uses titanium in large quantities.

Now comes the rights of naming it.

Do they go with Cartanium or Titarbon
