Turbo-Diesel 3-series Confirmed for US Market
By Jen Dunnaway

You can take that banner-sized euro license plate and replace it with one of our tin postage stamps. Because for 2009, the US-issue BMW 335 is going to be available with a twin-turbocharged 3.0L inline-six diesel that makes 265hp. The 335d, and its gas-powered 335i and 328i brethren, will also get a mild facelift and come equipped with a crapload of whizz-bang wireless gagetry. More at edmunds.

The US has really come around if BMW has decided we can handle a diesel now. That’s really great news… not that I’ll be paying that kinda cash for a car, but someone will and it won’t hurt that they’ll actually get some decent mileage.

Whats more impressive is the 335D will make 425 LBFT of TORQUE!!!!! Thats 130 more than the new M3!! Gets better mileage too.

glad a nice new stylish diesel is heading over IN A CAR!.. but for the price range.. I’d chip in the extra $$ for an Audi A5 3.2 TDI if it ever makes it way over.
More importantly the Ford Fiesta Diesel should come along with the other diesel small cars, it’s the time for them, until electric/alt fuel/etc is fully up and running as industries, diesel is a good substitute with lower emissions then most gas engines, the added MPGs… yadda yadda
