How Not To Shoot a Video

Jen already wrote about how not to photograph a car. Well, here’s an example of how not to shoot a video. Don’t stand behind a tree.

Stand behind the tree, just in case the guy loses control of the truck and plows into the crowd.

Do I detect a possbile muscle shirt and mullet in that truck? Look closely at the end, It looks like the guy driving has a mullet. In the defense of the person filming, it looks pretty crowded there so they may not have been able to move the 3 feet tot he right they needed to. Although if they really cared about quality they would have stepped back and then stood behind and filmed over heads. I have done that many times, it takes a steady hand but can be done.

It’s easier to screw up a video than photos. Bad shots can be discarded, but video requires attention throughout its duration.
-
Some folks just don’t have the attention span, or maybe not even enough common sense to get an unobstructed view.
