This Just In: New on the Net

Last night, I went to see the Jesus and Mary Chain. I’d been looking forward to that show for months, and while I was walking there, I wondered whether it could possibly meet my expectations. Well, the brothers Reid delivered what was quite possibly the best rock show I have ever seen—and I used to get paid to go to rock shows. I can barely talk this morning, because I spent so much of last night screaming like a little girl. Anyway, here’s the news:

  • Ah, kids these days. After yelling at speeders in his neighborhood didn’t make anyone slow down, an 11 year old boy dressed in a reflective vest, and started aiming his Hot Wheels radar gun at the errant cars. The really funny thing? It’s slowing people down. San Francisco Chronicle
  • If you didn’t know, doing, like, anything, with NASCAR is stupid expensive. So as part of its new plan to cut costs, the General is going to have to cut back on its racing habit. Detroit News
  • When your Ferrari is in the shop—which is probably often—you’d probably expect to get a really fancy loaner car. But things don’t always work out the way you figure they should. How about a Fiat 500? Autoblog
  • So if your life me, you’ve wondered what it’d be like to step behind the wheel of the 420 horsepower Aston Martin Vantage. Well, some lucky guys at Popular Mechanic don’t have to wonder anymore. Lucky bastards. Popular Mechanics
