They knocked it for having drum brakes? Maybe they should have got an R/T test model, instead, which has 4-wheel disc brakes, a better engine, and a nicer interior.

I do not think the Avenger is the best car in the world, but I have to agree that Motor Trend tends to assume that its readers all make 70k + a year and can afford the cars that the give the winning ticket to. I have had a subscription with them for the last year and I have disagreed with many of their choices. Often then will set out to prove one thing then end up only selecting the car they really like rather than the car the proves their original hypothesis.

I got one as a rental car. It was one of the worst vehicles I have ever driven aside from my 1984 Chevy Cav. The interior fit and finish was seriously poor. The dynamics were laughable. I've had more fun in the last generation Taurus.
