One Mean Machine: Randy Schratz's Cobra
By John Coyle
Editor
Randy Schratz ran his Cobra in the exhibition class, and it was the first car up the hill. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to chat with him about what the mean machine was packing under the hood—or even what kind of kit it was—but it was still one of my favorite rides in the lineup. Seriously, have you ever seen a more bad-ass looking Cobra? Have you ever seen one that looks anywhere near this bad ass? Ever? Because I sure haven’t—the rear tire/wheel combo just kills me! Three more pics after the jump.

could’ve at least put the spoiler on the trunk, instead of on the roll cage, but overall its a beast!

It seems to me that he is using this car for other purposes like everyday driving perhaps,as he does not want to have the car’s rear end to be permanently have holes for installing a wing that do not complement cobras. Still the wing looks as bad as hell, but it is one cool car nevertheless.

not sure who builds the kit but Randy has made changes over the years. The car runs on propane.

Not sure what kind of kit it is, but it is an old one that he has made changes to over the years. The car runs on propane. The exhaust isn’t titanium either…the discoloration is just from running propane.

Yes the wing is a bit ugly, but when climbing a mountain you want to make sure that you stay on the mountain. Awesome car.

There is no Cobra that I have seen that equals the bad-assedness of this one. I Think the wing is functional, many other hill-climbers have it.
