Ford’s 2nd Quarter Losses Prompt Small Vehicle Offensive
This morning, Ford announced its second quarter financial results. Extensive restructuring costs led the Blue Oval to post a whopping $8 billion loss, so it’s no surprise it simultaneously announced a series of bold product initiatives designed to speed a return to profitability in North America. For starters, at least three truck plants will be converted to produce versions of Ford’s highly acclaimed European B-car (Fiesta) and C-Car (Focus) lineup, along with the Kuga SUV. Additionally, the C/D segment will be consolidated worldwide, and the US-built Fusion and European-built Mondeo will share a common platform by 2012. For the full text of the financial and product releases, analysis of the announcement, and photos of the European versions of the Fiesta, Focus, Kuga, and Mondeo, head over to Automotive Traveler.

Ford is somewhat finally listening to us Focus owners. Focus Fest 2008, had Sam De La Garza representative show asking what we would like to see next, and got many returned answers. He ensured us that the Euro Spec focus is coming to America. However…I wonder if we will ever get the Focus RS. It’s in Mexico, but not the US…Come on FORD! That picture of the Focus is the ST Mk2.

maybe they shoudl have considered this ages ago when some of us were pining for a focus RS and not the POS they are selling the in the states now. The new fiesta and focus look awesome. If they had those when we bought my wife’s 05 Mazda 3 five door back in 04, I would have probably gone with the Ford.
