5.0L MG at the All-British Field Meet!
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
That’s a Ford 302 from an ’85 Mustang that rumbles beneath the hood of this little MG, piped through a gnarly set of custom-made through-the-fender headers that terminate in dual side-dump glasspacks. I love how the car keeps a refined look despite its wild insides, though the exhaust tips poking out in front of the blacked-out Triumph wheels give it away somewhat. The owner, Craig, says he doesn’t really get a lot of hassle from the pursits about this conversion, because there were so many MGs made that the "sacrifice" of a few here and there to build fire-breathing street beasts doesn’t ruffle too many feathers. I got the contact info from him for the guy who did his headers—I’m hoping he can fab up something similar for my Eagle!

Wow!!!! That looks incredible! I gotta second that comment about how well the engine fits in the bay…..I mean you have a ridiculous amount of room to work on that thing or add other goodies. Maybe even a supercharger….

I just can’t believe how well that V8 fits under this hood with room for more.

this is very clean, not fond of the color but everything else makes up for it. although, this is not the first MG I’ve seen with American small block power,…I snapped this last year…

great work, even though i’m not a fan of muscle cars, but the craftmanship is great. the headers look weird, but the crafters did a great job. truly….

I should have added to my last comment that http://www.britishv8.org is also another good site to see v8 conversions on MGs and other British cars too.

Very nice conversion. Well done and clean looking. I have always wanted to do a V8 conversion in an MGB GT like this one. If you like this you should also check out http://www.mantellmotorsport.com/ They specialize in these conversions.

One of the cleanest swaps I have ever seen. In my days swaps like this were very common. V-8′s went in everything… Jags, Triumphs and many more. The biggest problem with many of them is that the suspensions was not sufficient for too much motor if indeed they were to be run hard. A good example of this are the Monster Miatas. On the other hand they were fun to hear and drive.

What’s not to love?
.
It’s a well planned out MG, with
excellent craftsmanship.
.
I’d say the install looks factory, but that would be an insult…
.
It looks BETTER than any factory would have done it.
.
Good job!

wow. the chassis is incredible to think of a v8. Awesome. I normally dislike the crazy setups (ie: 78 honda with a v8) the mg seems a realistic extreme just to look at.Nice.

What a little beast. Power to weight ratio would be neck-breaking. Love the conversion, and the headers are really well done.
