Barry White's Frankenstein Mopar on eBay
By Ron
aka WayTooFurious
Barry White from Wrecks to Riches fame built this sensational restomod GTX tribute. I am the first to admit that this body style never did it for me—however, with the Barry White treatment this is one car that I would be happy to have sitting in my drive. It cost $55k to build and sold for $75k on the show. It was listed on eBay earlier this week but failed to sell and has been relisted as a Buy It Now with a price of $89,000. Do you think it’s worth the asking price?

I fully agree with Chris if you don’t get the tire size and way the car sits they look goofy. The car we are talking about if the rear was dropped down and make the car level it would sell way better. All of Barry’s cars are that way he likes the I’ve just been kicked in the butt look on his cars sorry Berry your a cool guy just don’t like your level maybe an eye alinement would help!!

What’s up with that trunk?? Messy wires, unpainted, rust(?)…. C’mon now. If you’re putting that much love into restoring a car, why not dress up the trunk a bit? At least organize your wires or something.

im not a huge restomod fan, barry white is king shit, amn i watched him build this on tv. hes way better than chip foose. i would just change the wheels, bigger tires and thats it. big wheels are super ugly and stupid, but at least he picks better wheels that chip foose. that purple. PERFECT

i think that thing is absolutly amazing, at the right place it could get that asking price i think, but i dont think ebay would be that place, a different all classic auto auction would have better lucka nd i think it could do it

A little less rim and a little more tire and then take it to barrett jackson and you will easly make that much. but on ebay, it ain’t worht no more than 45-50K

he can hire someone to relist it, cuz it won’t sell anyway, and he would get bored to relist it everytime, SO? hire someone to do it for you.

75 grand?! NO WAY!!! They must be dreaming! Just from the pictures alone, I can tell the body is not perfectly straight and aligned. What more if I see that in person?! And the shop spent $55K on restoration??!! ha ha ha ha ha… …Tickle me more!!! The only thing I’d get there is the engine (and maybe the wheels even if I don’t like them because I can sell it to some crazy nut) and… I’ll throw the rest away.

Never like Wrecks to Riches. Just too many ugly american cars & hot rods. He should stay with imports.

If you ask me, whenever you set a seemingly high Buy It Now price on Ebay, you’re asking for a non-sale. For one, this isn’t a dealership or auction block where the car can be examined. It’s online, and the potential buyer can’t even test drive it. I don’t see anything wrong with a Buy It Now, but at least enable bidding as well so that if you don’t get what you wanted, at least you can see where you were at. They’re trying to turn a $30K dollar profit on Ebay, that’s not so easy to do. I think they can get about $60K for it based on today’s market and everything else. But given the fine Pony Cars on ebay, this one probably won’t sell!

I think it’s gorgeous and unique. It’s the best example of this body style which yeah, left a little to be desired but the treatment this one got is outstanding.

Whether it’s worth 90k? Well beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If a beholder has the cash and is so motivated it’s worth that much, at least to him or her. As much as I like it, there’s a long list of rides that would come before this one.

I agree with you, Ron. I’m not too much of a fan of this body style.
.
But this one looks great! I love the Plum Crazy paint, and of course, I love the Hemi. But even if I had the money, I wouldn’t buy it. I used to watch Wrecks to Riches, but the whole thing just disgusts me. I hate how they pick a random car, whip it together, and then just do a few burnouts for the Cameras before they ship it off to an auction to be sold. Where is the love?
.
I don’t know, I guess this is how Barry’s Speed Shop works. I guess this is why I don’t want anything to do with Barry’s Speed Shop.
.
Just my opinion…

I don’t think I would pay that price. Someone may pay twice that price. It is a great lookin’ machine!

for a hemi car, that is a great body. the old square ones were crazier. At least there is curves in this one…and where is the rubber gromets..whats up with the old style e-brake. another 15 bucks for a modern cable setup would be great. Those lines routes suck too. Suspension is interesting..

Agree with you there Ron, not really into that shape either. Never really liked that Plymouth GTX / Dodge Charger shape. I do think it is well done though. Some big dollars spent on that suspension work by the looks, and the engine is pristine. Unsure if it worth that much though..

I just don’t think it’s worth that kind of money. After watching it get tossed together on the show, I just don’t think it’s worth it. Plus, by can’t that guy get wheel/tire sizing right? Look at the profile shot of this car in the eBay listing? The front wheels/tires are WAY too small. None of the car’s he’s built have proper wheel/tire sizing, and it makes the overall car look goofy. He should take some lessons from Chip Foose on this topic in my opinion. Other than that, it’s a nice car for sure.
