Challengers on 24s

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Ok, so what do you guys think of these 24" Gianelle Spezia 6s on this Challenger? DG-Motoring has two Challengers rolling on 24s. They also have this one with 24" Asanti AF115s.

HONESTLY, those 24′z fit perfectly on both Challengers!!! Those rubberbands make me nervous though. lol. These backwoods racists are too dumb to realize their giving you FREE ADVERTISEMENT!!! Dumbasses!!! LOL

Just checking in to see what people have to say about the cars, and of course it’s back to the racism crap.
Haven’t you all heard. We’re white (not that it matters), but it’s either you like the car or you don’t.
And to further upset some of you, these cars lost NO performance at all with the 24’s, in my opinion I think they handle a little better. Of course you might feel a little bump here and there, but it definetly compensates for the look.

I can’t believe how worked up some people are getting over this! They can’t even begin to express their thoughts or opinions with any intelligence at all. CALM DOWN PEOPLE it’s just a car. If you don’t like it just say that, don’t continue to type your just making yourself look completely ignorant and hateful.

How about a set of Foose retros? These wheels dont work with the cars retro theme. They make the whole car look silly.

Aug 1, 2008 at 1:49 am

It’s a retro design and should be left true to form. The 24″ rims look like shit. Grossly oversized rims on any car look like shit. First superwide white walls, now this? If I were to see two identical Challengers for sale side by side and one had factory rims and the other had a set of these rims, I’d offer $10,000.00 less for the one with the ugly oversized rims.

The chrome ones look good on them for show but Im sure the ride suckz!!!

I love the new Challengers, they look awesome. But really, 24″ rims? I am not a muscle car enthusiast or anything, but those look ridiculous. I have to agree with “alicks”, it looks like a cartoon racer. But, you know, if that’s your thing, then you can roll on these asinine pieces of chrome, don’t let me stop you. Just think you should have some treads on a car that was designed to be fast.

Aug 1, 2008 at 12:35 am

Damn.

That’s clean, but I’d go no bigger than 20’s. Buying this car next year (want the 6 speed), plan to buy a pro set of light alloy 20’s with some meat on the rubber.

Clean, but the 24’s are not for this ride.

jim we dont care if you own a muscle car yea it has 24’s and if you wanna race geuss what put the factories back on and race the new one is slower anyway the new is 1100 pounds heavier PEOPLE stop fussing and fighting that the are is ugly and 24’s are to much its called personal pref if you like 15-16’s then put em on your car if you like 24’s then put what you like on your car

ummm… LAME!!! muscle cars should be on something between 15 and 18… and only sertaint 18 look right. as an owner of a muscle car… I think I know. for a real muscle car, its mags all the way… not something you’d find some crappy rapper putting on his escalade

Looks like a cartoon. Big wheels go well on some cars – not so much on the Challenger. Muscle cars look better with smaller wheels; especially retro-styled ones. Small wheels (15-16″), big tires.

Looks like a Hotwheels toy, giant rims do not fit the car. Another case of people just slapping big rims on something because they can and a bunch of folks with no taste for style of their own will think it’s the greatest thing in the world. I’ve had people tell me my banged up Wagoneer “would be hot with 22’s”, wtf is wrong with people? 18-19s would be the max for the Challenger in my opinion, anything taller looks like a pathetic attempt to follow the stupid dub trend, and takes away from the look of the car.

SO YOUR “MAX” WOULD RECOMMEND REMOVING THE STOCK 20’s TO DOWNSIZE? YOU’RE AN IDIOT.

Jul 31, 2008 at 10:34 pm

Wow, I just read Marks’ comment. Man, times must be rough for you, hopefully they get better soon. Real soon…
There is NO loan on either one of these Challenger SRT8’s, both paid in full.
And just to clarify a little more, there is no rubbing whatsoever on either vehicle. These wheels were not $20,000 (You must have seen the Hummer H2 SUT and the Yukon Denali on 30″ wheels. Now those will run you about $20,000) These were about $4500.00 for the Spezia-6, and about $7300.00 for the color-matched Asanti’s. The one with the Asanti’s is back getting about $9000 worth of audio and video upgrades.

And Mark, be on the lookout for a black 2009 Challenger SRT8 in our garage with the Asanti 24×9’s on the front and the 26×10’s on the rear.

I’m sure you might have something to comment on that one too.

And a comment on the stupid racial comments; just because a trend appears to be most popular with one perceived subset of the population, does not mean that all people of one ethnicity or cultural background are stupid or unsophisticated. Anyone of any color, nationality, background, whatever, can follow stupid trends because they lack the creativity to create their own ideas, it is not exclusive to any one group.

Someone sticking big rims on a Challenger was predictable. People put giant rims on all kinds of cars that look utterly ridiculous, because they can easily follow a trend and everyone thinks the trend is so great everything else about the car doesn’t matter. If you don’t like giant rims on your new Challenger, then don’t put them on, you can always tell someone you prefer not to follow silly trends when they tell you you should put 24’s on your car, just like I tell people I’m not putting giant rims on my offroad Jeep

DG-Motoring
Jul 31, 2008 at 10:15 pm

How about it has nothing to do with race… Maybe it is our style, like I said before – - – WE OVERSIZE EVERYTHING – - – 745’s on 24’s, DTS on 24’s, Corvettes with 22’s in the front and 24’s in the rear, 30’s on H2’s and Denali’s, and so on. Even our Raptor 4-wheeler sports a set of 24″ Asanti AF121’s on it. (But that doesn’t mean we can’t simply slap the factory wheels back on and rip it through the woods..think about it.) Let’s try not to pull the race card people. Because if you come in our store and you are ready to spend some serious cash, I don’t care if you are red, yellow, blue, or even purple.
Oh and by the way, we are white. (Not that it even matters.)

Jul 31, 2008 at 10:00 pm

When I first saw these cars, the first thing I thought was who the hell decided to put these big ugly wastes of money on an otherwise great car? Either this motor club that wanted something standout-ish or probably some rich guy who doesn’t know a got damn thing about wheel and tire size in relation to altered handling and ride quality on a car. It’s the same thing like the jackasses that put these ridiculously large, usually chrome, rims on Charger and 300C SRT-8’s and Mustang GT’s. Honestly, it’s very tacky looking and simply adds a substantial amount of weight versus a smaller, more focused polished aluminum wheel (if it MUST be shiny), but being a performance car enthusiast, that’s just my technical opinion. Nothing wrong with big rims, but there’s a proper time, place and situation for everything, and 425 horses trying to find traction is a bad time, place and situation to have that thin ass rubber getting you away from the christmas tree.

Secondly, why does this have to turn into a racial debate? We’re talking about the cars, NOT the driver(s), and it seems that some of you have it a bit confused. Sure, I’m not going to be ignorant to the fact that it SEEMS many African Americans do tend to stereotypically go a bit overboard with rim sizes, that in no way means that African Americans are the SOLE perpetrators of the big, flamboyant cars shittily covered in chrome, badly-done tint and big, bulky rims. Any fool with money can create a craptacular masterpiece, not just African Americans or White Americans. Furthermore, this doesn’t mean that extremely rare and expensive cars are solely owned by White Americans trying to cover up their stereotypical “shortcomings.” What we all forget here is money is UNIVERSAL; doesn’t matter who you are. If you have the money to buy unashamedly big rims, a Mercedes Benz SL 65 AMG, a 5000 watt Sony Xplod stereo, a Fujita CAI, 5% tints or a full catback exhaust system or WHATEVER, then you have the money to do it. Simple as that.

Black guys don’t only drive Cadillacs, White guys don’t only drive BMW’s and Mercedes, Spanish guys don’t only drive Hondas and women don’t only drive automatics. These are all common stereotypes and dumb ass people like Mark, WHITE POWER and David Duke just go to show how these dumb ass stereotypes stay in existence and actually how new ones get created. This is America in 2008. Not the 60’s people. Aren’t we done destroying society and shaming the people that worked to make America what it is today? Racism will always be ever-present as long as you have pussies that sit back and facilitate chaos and anarchy anonymously, rather than work to make the world better for their kids and their kid’s kids. Even though this is just a damn car site, it’s little things like this that keep hate and anger in people, rather than actually function to make co-existence among different races and sexes possible.

I’m not an extremist and I’m not preaching to anyone at all because in no way is my gambling-addicted ass throwing stones at others before I look in the mirror at my own flaws and shortcomings. My shit stinks, I drink beer, I leave the seat up, I speed and I love Jenna Jameson too. All I’m saying is why can’t we have some people stand up for something meaningful, rather than stay stuck on the same page forever? Why can’t a White guy or a Black guy go on youtube and see something involving multiple races without seeing a racial comment from some nobody that doesn’t have a got damn thing going for himself? It’s just really annoying, and really, really, really fucking old, excuse my language. Grow up, and take a stand for something.

Think about it. What the fuck have you done to change the world lately?

its really sad that this is how people think in 2008, anything that isn’t the norm is looked at as ghetto or stupid. i never thought that 24 inch rims could really bring out the ignorance in some people. why does putting big rims on a car make people angry? i bet cardomain wish they never posted the pictures or asked people to comment. this is a site for people who love cars, not to spew racist comments. i feel sorry for our country and even more sad for our children.

It always has to be a color thing with you hardcore bloggers…why would it matter what other people think of it, that’s their taste and their right to do it. I think it looks awesome, it takes a whole five extra minutes to change the tires at the track to some slips, think about it

Jul 31, 2008 at 8:29 pm

AMAZING!!! Now, go look at the comments for “Cleanest Monster Car Ever?” There you will read GLOWING comments regarding that vehicle which is more extreme than a car with 24’s on it.

Basically, it shows you how people view thngs in a DISTORTED light. In their eyes a car with 24’s on it is more EXTREME than a Beetle with a lift kit & ‘mudders’.

Simply put, it is sad!

James
Jul 31, 2008 at 8:28 pm

it looks pretty stupid to me. The Challenger is supposed to be a muscle car, not a muscle/pimpmobile like the 300. In my opinion modern muscles should be all about performance (which the Challenger is). At the very most I would throw on some classic 20″ cragar wheels.

JQ
Jul 31, 2008 at 7:57 pm

I think the first one looks alright, not into the color match in orange at least. But, 24’s are pretty big, but as long as he didn’t have to buy a lift kit to fit them, then that seems good enough, my personal opinion would be to drop it on 22’s black on black with polished lip and full tint. Everyone has their own opinion, and mine is that this car looks fine, just not something I’d personally do if I could afford a Challenger and 3 pc 24″ Asanti rims.

I personally think that24’s are a bit too much…..maaayyybe 22’s max. It looks too much like it’s rolling on nothing but rim. If it were racing and needed htis treatment for handling purposes…..that’s another story. I’d just like to see a bit more tire and a bit less rim I guess.

My two cents ;-)

Jeff
Jul 31, 2008 at 7:37 pm

24’s seem to big. A nice set of 3pc 22’s would be plenty…color matched.

Der Wagen sieht so oder so super aus.
Die Felgengröße finde ich aber zu groß. Mir würden 18″ mit schönen Reifen besser gefallen.

I don’t care for 20″ wheels on anything personally. They’re so big that the only thing you see is the wheels. Wheels should compliment the look of the car; not the other way around.

I love it! I have detailed a couple for the Dodge Dealership, and personally I liked the old school early 70’s Challenger better. But, seeing it on a nice set of 24’s give it a much newer and aggressive look to me. I’de love to see the owner burn em up!

I'm gonna repeat myself
Jul 31, 2008 at 5:51 pm

these rims do not take away from the perfomance if if anything the enhance it especially the asantis its a 3 piece wheel which for its size if fairly light and deffinetly lighter than a pos stock 20 liek the ones that came on the challenger. not to mention the grip and cornering ability from the performance tires so before you “muscle car guys” continue to make yourselves look dumber get your facts straight

and to everyone sayin put 17’s on it you dumb f**ks it comes stock on 20’s go put 17’s on yours moms camry your gonna borrow this weekend

newageoutlaw1
Jul 31, 2008 at 5:50 pm

I personally do not like the larger wheels on a car,on some SUV’s it is ok. But to me it makes the cars look freakish, even 20’s is pushing it. What happen to the good ol days when muscle cars had a nice set of centerlines?

MING
Jul 31, 2008 at 5:46 pm

I THINK YOU GUYS ARE FRIGGING IDIOTS. This ride looks hot stock and even hotter with the big wheels. You find the right tuner rims in 24″ and you will have a cross between Beauty and the Beast.

101
Jul 31, 2008 at 5:30 pm

I’d drive it, but you’d better believe if that was my car i would take those wheels off and put some DRs in back and skinnies up front. anything bigger than 20″ looks stupid IMO. The mustang for example 20″ looks great, anything bigger and attention is pulled away from the car and onto the wheels. If i had a challenger, I would want people looking at my car, not my retarded huge wheels.

I’m not sure if I like the top pic, the bottom one looks cool but. I still don’t like the idea of real big wheels on a Muscle Car. I like them more on passanger cars since you just mostly cruz and your comfey in the ride. But on a car that is ment to perform I think that your takeing some of the cars advantages out of it. But if your just going for a ride and just whant to look cool and relax a little then sure go for it. But if your going to drive hard and fast then I would say like one person said Wide on the back skinny up front.

Nick

Top one doesn’t look to hot but the bottom one I could deal with just to tool around in, they would have to come off when I’m ready to do some real driving.

Nah. Don’t like it. The new Challey needs wides on the back and skinny’s on the front. Traction for the rear and less resistance for the front. That’s the only way to go for the 425 hp!

Anthony Mattocks
Jul 31, 2008 at 4:53 pm

Hey as long as the car does not have to be jacked up for them to fit they are ok with me. I know for a fact that Dodge engineered (as well as Ford and Chevy)the car to fit those wheels because for one thing they fit so well and second they know peeps are going to customize them. Look close at the Mustang, Charger, Camero, any of those cars wheel wells, you will see alot of room for plus sizing your wheels. As long as you stick with the same size overall diameter any wheel size will work , just you’ll be sacrificing rubber the bigger you go.

I think it’s nuts. Don’t go near a curb, a rock or RxR tracks or you’ll be walking. Give me some 15 or 16 classic mags and a LOT of sidewall for the real street. Sure low profiles are good at cornering ON THE TRACK, but the street need shock and cushion, at least on our torn up roads out here in Sunny Calif. I’d never go lower than 60 series. My BMW has 70 series because I have to drive country roads and you never know what the world will throw at you?

I think it looks hideous!
Stick to stock. Dodge put a lot of engineering and thought into what’s on the car. ALL of the wheel options from the factory look kick @ss.
I’m not just saying that because I WORK for Chrysler either. Hell, I’m a Ford man pretty much.
Dodge advertises the Challenger getting air-borne. Let’s see you do it in a set of these………

I AM SERIOUSLY TIRED OF PEOPLE PULLING RACE INTO THINGS. JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE BIG RIMS DOES NOT NECCASARILY MEAN YOUR SACRIFICING MUSCLE. I HAVE A 73 CAPRICE WITH A 406 AND 400 TURBO TRANNY THAT PULLS MY 22S JUST AS GOOD AS IT DOES THE 18″ BOYD CODDINGTONS I HAVE ON THEIR NOW. LOOK UNDER BLKLIG3 AND YOUL FIND IT. AS TOO ALL THE BIGGETS YOU’LL FIND A WAY TO SHOOT DOWN ANYTHING THAT IS NOT LIKE YOU OR THAT YOU DONT UNDERSTAND. JUST LIKE ANOTHER PERSON ON HERE SAID TO EACH HIS OWN. THIS SHOWS ME JUST HOW MUCH RACISM IS STILL A PROBLEM IN AMERICA. PEOPLE HIDE BEHIND COMPUTER SCREENS AND THE HOODS AND TO FIST GO IN THE AIR. THIS IS NOT JUST TO CAUCASIONS BUT ANYONE WHO HAS A RACIST REMARK. LET GROW UP A LITTLE AND RESPECT EACH OTHER AND MAYBE AMERICA COULD GET SOMEWHERE.

To those of you who don’t know black people hook up cars as a statement to say,” I’m not like you.” Just as the statement was made by the hot roders back in da day. Ofcourse they can buy a car and drive just like everyone else does, then where’s the fun in that driving around as if programed people. In the 1970’s people were customizin there cars to there likin or to what they can afford. And if they had access to the big wheels then what do you think would’ve happened. So, to bring race into this subject is to say only one race should be able to drive and customize cars right. Wrong cars were built with everyone in mind YOU BUY IT YOU DO WHAT YOU WANT WITH IT. AND IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT. JUST SAY I DON’T LIKE IT. ALL THE OTHER BULL IS SOME HOW HAS NO LIFE, CAN’T AFFORD IT, LIVE’S THEIR MOM BASEMENT NEVER INJOYED THE PLEASURE OFLIFE IN THEIR LIVES.

I dont think they look bad.
Maybe some 20’s w/ thicker rubber instead.
those look like maybe a 20 series profile on them 22’s… once you hit a pothole, goodbye rim!

Wow, how can any of you say that the car doesn’t look good with those wheels. The way that I look at it is that factory cars have smalls rims and fat tires (Not green what so ever). Also their is a alot of space between the Tire and the Wheel well Height. It looks tackie when it’s not filled out. This car above is so beautiful by it self. Those Rims/tires make it look even better. So to me this car is a bad as* ride. You can’t do nothen but hate on it :) I can’t wait to see the new Camaro and Interceptor.

I had 22″ rims on my 300 for a while and let me tell you, those 22″ rims cut down the road noise alot and the ride looked really good to me and to others. Folks, putting bigger rims or smaller rims on a car isn’t about performance for most people. Everyone has thier own choice of wheels. Thats why their are so many rims out on the market.

Now in ref to the fool with the racial remarks about the 300. I’m 26 in the US Navy making 48,000 a year, atm. I’ve had my 300 for about 3 1/2 years now and haven’t missed not one payment. As a matter of fact it’s almost paid for. How can you sit at your damn computer and talk that way!! Come on dude thats just dead wrong. I have never heard anyone talk that way about another man or women. How old are you again?

Right car.
Right color.
Wrong choice of wheels.
Wrong size of wheels.

In MY opinion, they shoulda kept it on 22’s with a nice
meaty tire to keep the “Muscle Car” look.Or maybe a 20″
up front and a 22″ on the rear….

Jul 31, 2008 at 3:11 pm

First off, I like em both. I think most of you here are idiots. None of you spent the money to buy this car nor to modify it. If you don’t like it so what, it’s not yours and you don’t have to drive it. Go buy your own with your own money and modify it however you like. Most of you are getting all worked up over sumthin’ you hve no control over. Hell if these guys want to raise it and put 30s on it that’s their business and their money. I love the big rim look but do it with minimal modifications, if you have to raise the car and add lift kits and all that so be it, I wouldn’t personally and don’t care for it personally, but everyody is entitled to do and spend THEIR money as they please. Like someone else said I believe in filling the wheel well, whether it be majority rim are majority tire. I don’t agree with what a lot of people do to their cars but hey if they like it I love it. Also to all of you stereo-typers out there not everyone that has big rims and nice cars sell drugs, some of US are professionals in corporate America that prefer to go with what’s up-to-date and fortunately at the time big wheels are in.

I own a real Hemi Challenger (1970). When I saw this picture I almosed puked. Wheels and tires like that should never be seen on a modern version of a classic American muscle car. Save them for the ricers or the dingle ball crowd.

Alright… They’ve taken an AMERICAN MUSCLE car & turned it into a ghetto cruiser… Sorry to say, but I think they’ve taken this American Hot Rod and basically destroyed it. At the very least they could have put some muscle wheels on it. Say Torq Thrusts? Or Muscle Razors? Or how about even Cragers? Stick to American Muscle and not bling.

Looks like crap. Muscle cars don’t wear ridiculous wheels. DUB’s…wait there is a letter M missing…..DUMB’s are more like it. If you want to mess up a car do it to a ricer, no one cares, in fact most rices like the stupid bolt ons.

Why would someone want to bastardize an amazing new (or old) musclecar???? It makes as much sense as building a garbage truck into a road racer.

Scott
Jul 31, 2008 at 1:48 pm

Personally I think that it looks ridiculous. I am a fan of old skool I guess. Muscle cars should have a muscle car stance, and in my opinion that is wide, fat rear tires and smaller, skinnier front tires. I don’t care for the large rims on any vehicle though. I see a lot of nice old cars riding around on way oversize rims. You even see 4×4’s with this silly tire and wheel combo. If you wanted to make your 4 wheel drive completely useless, put 24’s on it and low profile tires. Why would you spend the extra money on 4 wheel drive or serious muscle and not be able to get the power and performance that you paid for?

Steve

what i dont understand is this is suppose to be a cumonity of car people. now the last time i checked car people like to make there cars fit them and do what they think looks good am i right? ok so this isnt your style this isnt your thing but why be so negative. the beautiful thing about the car culture is there are so mnay different styles of cars and so many different ways to style your car to your liking. if you dont like it ok say hey nice work but not my taste or if you feel that strongly bout how distasteful you feel it looks then keep it to your damn self. no need in sharing your ignorance or the fact that your still stuck in the backwoods as a racist. i thought car people were suppose to stick together have each others backs against the gov tryin to take away our rights to customize and our rights to ride and to organize.

i think the car looks good specially on them 3 piece asantis and considering the fact tha they are prolly lighter than the stock 20’s and im sure the tire is a better handling tire im sure that your performance minded people would be suprised

Some idiots feel the need to throw insults at someone who wants to make their car different, unique or customized to their own liking. That just makes no sense. To each is own. Obviously there are a few redneck racists (most likely broke) who hate the fact that some minorities can afford such big expensive wheels and flaunt them in front of them. LOL. Jealousy on the racists part makes them post stupid comments and hate. Personally, I think it looks fine, maybe 22′z would look better with a bit more meat on the tires, but it still looks good. Biff
Jul 31, 2008 at 10:40 am

Whether those wheels or any other wheels be it, 17’s or 24’s, do or do not look good is a matter of personal preference. The shift in the market with regards to the, look at me bolt on accessories, is rooted within that click or subculture. The same holds true if you have a purist gearhead approach driven only by performance which is not held strictly to a function over form stereotype.

As an double E myself and part of the older crowd if you will, I have an open mind to what the industry is driven by and that . . . is the consumer. If you build it someone somewhere will buy it. With that you have leaders, the risk takers, and you have followers, the ones jumping on the bandwagon to produce those very accessories/parts, that the risk taker brought to market that have become popular.

There are things to consider with two faux’s. Some level of engineering goes into both the wheel design, and manufacturing process. There is the challenge of calibration of the ECM, putting these on vehicles obviously not designed for wheels of this size. Other challenges include suspension geometry and altering the factory specification to accommodate wheels of this size.

Long term issues that may arise putting much larger wheels on is suspension and bearing fatigue. The original vehicle design was tested and certified within a “range” given a margin of robustness to accommodate shock loads, full suspension travel, compression and rebound, and axial loads on bearings and chassis components. The effects of changing suspension geometry far outside of factory settings can introduce accelerated wear on bushings and joints as well as added torsional load on axels, bearings, and spindles that the system was not designed for. These added loads can stress even chassis joints by why of load transfer, its all relative.

I doubt you would ever see Adrian Peterson, running back for the Minnesota Vikings, wearing platform shoes out on the field! LOL, that is the analogy here. The Challenger was designed as a performance car equipped to slice through corners and perform to its maximum capability as designed. DUB’s are nothing new, Look at the covered wagon of the 1800’ they were rolling on 36’s and even when the horseless carriage was introduced they were rolling on 24’s and 30’s, just google that chit manny!

http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&resnum=0&q=horseless+carriage+photos&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title

There is much silliness in the good ole USA and the, how it should be, will always be defined by the market driven pursuit of what it is consumers demand. Gotta roll wit da the times and not try to change what is that really has no bearing on your life. You will only aggravate yourself into the ground with bitter despair and resentment. Again, to each his own and in my opinion putting those 24’s on qualifies it as strictly a cruiser, they do not offer anything in the way of performance enhancement to this vehicle other than to alter its appearance. Fiddy put some DUB’s on his G8, not my cup of tea but it fits his image, do not read into it, that is how he rolls.

Just wait till the Camaro comes out I am quite certain that it will get a full compliment of rolling bling as well. It is what it is, it keeps the economy . . . rolling. >:)

Dunkel Mann
Jul 31, 2008 at 9:23 am

yeah, i dont buy rims because i think they will look the best, they are the shiniest, or they are the biggest. Wheels on a performance-oriented car should be just that – performance oriented. In order for the wheels to not be too big and heavy to the point where they are only to fit over larger brakes meaning bigger calipers and bigger discs they need to be usually between 16 and 18 inches. Sure the new GTR has like 20s but they fit the car and it accelerates well and was built for wheels/tires of that size. As for this challenger, these wheels are humangous, hideous, and are going to kill the acceleration from their added and un-needed weight. cornering goes out the window unless you make some upgrades to the suspension because these will cause more wear on weaker parts in the front and rear. maybe if you were looking for a little better top end speed or whatever, sure this would maybe make a little sense. the only way they would make any REAL sense is if they were lighter and only bigger to fit bigger brakes/better tires. Plus anyone that throws on 24s is either castrating an SUV or making a car look stupid while trying to improve their self-image at the same time. who really cares what others think? you should change it by blowing their doors off, and adding these stupid donk wheels is NOT GOING TO HELP.

as a friend of mine said

“sure people lower trucks and raise cars. but i could also get a sex change and become a woman. just because i can, doesn’t really mean that i should do it”

Days are numbered
Jul 31, 2008 at 8:55 am

The days of muscle cars are over. Most people growing up these days have no sense of what a challenger means. Times are changing. Of course this is gonna happen. The import scene has taken over until a new fad sets in and the import guys will be saying the same thing. Most kids are into this stuff these days and will never understand what its like to work on a real muscle car and to drive it. Blame can be placed on the gas crisis.

1st of all that is NOT a muscle car.
2nd, when it comes to muscle cars it’s about the Rubber and how much of it can I leave on the pavement and smoke in the air.
I can barely see any rubber on the 24s.
Muscle represents Big,when I look at those 24s I see skinny.
Everytime I see 24s on someones ride, I think,uh! Skateboard. thats it! there is a place for them wheels after all.
The ride in a 70 Chevelle is on the rough side but hey! why don’t we make it a little rougher.
I must say, those 24s do look like they could paddle thru water quite nicely

Interesting viewpoints. I’m guessing the younger crowd mostly likes that look and the older crowd doesn’t. Its obvious that many of the comments are coming from people who weren’t around in the muscle car era. Someone said they had big rims on a mini cooper. This isn’t a mini cooper. Someone said the purpose of a muscle car was to ride rough. The purpose of a muscle car was to get from point A to point B in the quickest time possible. This car is supposed to be a knock off of the 70 challenger. If you want big rims then make a totally different looking car and put big rims on it.

zak
Jul 31, 2008 at 8:00 am

That ride is PIMPED! and by saying that, I mean it looks like a toy, good for the show, BAD for the road. A ghetto style toy. It will turn heads though, that’s for sure.

300C SRT8 '06
Jul 31, 2008 at 7:58 am

Pretty frustrating to see many uninformed comments, but your opinions are all your own taste. I own an SRT8 300C (with stock 20’s) and had to check out the Challenger when it arrived at the local dealership. It is an orange SRT8 like the one pictured and has the stock 20’s.
Personally, I like the orange rims here–they’re pretty pimp and people are hating on here because there are “so many things they would do different if they had the money”. But they don’t–that is what 24’s are about, just like TV’s in the headrest. It’s for show.
Personally, I like the power of these cars, and the 24’s do hinder that.
For those that don’t know, the SRT8 stock set-up is 245/45 Z-rated on 20×9″ Forged Aluminum. Hardly bad wheels at all, and I will take them over 17’s. And although these stock ones are better for racing in my opinion, the 24’s are more for show/cruising.
It seems a few on here were not aware that these ‘09 Challenger SRT8’s come with a standard “burn-out” switch that Dodge call’s a “hill assist”, to lock the brakes.
And at 69.8 horsepower-per-liter the 6.1-liter HEMI delivers the highest specific-output of any engine ever sold by Chrysler Group–including the 426.

Just because you drive a Kia – dont be hatin on the big SUV’s on wheels as big as your car! As an Engineer with a big SUV on Dubs, does it mean I sell drugs??? sorry guys, it’s supposed to be tribute to muscle cars of the past, not some pimped out caddy… only my opinion of course, but they just look very wrong on this kind of car. maybe a modern alloy take on some 60’s or 70’s muscle car steel rims, increased to 17 or 18 inch, complete with some raised white lettering on the tyres, but definately NOT bling bling 24’s…

The Drizzle
Jul 31, 2008 at 7:01 am

The only reason people are even hating on this is because it says it has 24s. The first picture looks okay, but the second picture is awesome. The car is not sitting up of the ground like most cars on 24s would, it looks like there was no cutting involved. I just don’t see how that second picture looks ugly. At first glance, i would have thought they were some 22’s at the biggest. You people hating big rims need to find a friend with a car with big rims so that you may experience it for yourself. You say the rims make the ride tough, but isn’t that what having a muscle car is about? Most muscle cars back in the day didn’t have power anything, let alone a/c, so who are we to complain about a ride that is a little rougher. If a pothole is big enough, it will mess almost any wheel and rim up. Have you people heard of insurance for your rims? Guys, your vagina stock will increase with a nice set of big rims, and a nice set of rims detract attention away from any scratches, dents, or dings in your car, the same goes for a dirty car with rims that arent dirty. Please remember that you don’t have to get 24’s, and that they don’t have to be a thing of the ghetto. People could say the exact samething about jacked up trucks in urban areas, big chromed out harleys, tuner cars, aftermarket stereos, you name it. It is all about choice, and if things were what we think they were, then there would be no purpose for their existence, and would not have been created. And that can be said for everything.

Its 2008 People! We cant really call any of these new Cars being built Muscle cars! Muscle cars are old and heavy and dont have a traction control button to turn off or Check engine lights that come on for a bad O2 sensor. A 68 Camaro is a muscle car! The first pic is sexy as hell. I would drive in a heartbeat. sittin on about 5K in wheels and tires. Everyones gotta love a hater!

Now, I usually don’t like HUGE rims on ANY car. But at least fill in the wheel wells. They could have wider on the rear, but at least the damn thing isn’t lifted to fit those rims. Like someone else said, I like the chrome on Orange better than color matched.

The car is a CHALLENGER.

Heather
Jul 31, 2008 at 6:29 am

Wow, way to ruin the car. The rims wouldn’t look good on anything in my opinion. The ones in the first pic are okay… but the second pic… wow, they make my stomach churn just a bit. And to do this to a challenger, come on, don’t bring down a good lookin rmake of a muscle car like that. That’s just wrong. The car should have some big fat tires on it, it’s muscle, low pros DO NOT BELONG. But that’s all just my opinion. To each their own I guess, but eew….

matt
Jul 31, 2008 at 6:25 am

Well the rims are nice but I dont think they belong on a new charger.
Mabe some oldschool rims like you see on other muscle cars, but not those city boy 24’s that you would see on a Escalade. Sorry guys big rims are not my thing, there should be more rubber to burn not more rim to scrape the curb.

PanFace454
Jul 31, 2008 at 6:16 am

A muscle car should have more rubber to burn than rim to burn. In this case though I think they’re just burning money. Oh well, If I had any though I’d put some steelies on that bad boy.

What the hell is that yo-yo thinking ??? Well, I know he doesn`t.
If a Muscle Car was supposed to run on it`s rims , we wouldn`t go too far now, would we. Looks like a spike belt was used in the chase. If that is what was, it isn`t… That is a beautiful car. Enough and To hell with the wigger mentality here.

I THINK IT TAKES THE RETRO OUT OF THE CAR. IF YOU WANT THE NEW CAR LOOK IT LOOKS GOOD(AT LEAST THE ORANGE RIMS DO). I PERSONALLY LIKE THE RETRO FEEL AND THINK THE FACTORY SIZE LOOKS GOOD ON THE CAR.

DG-Motoring
Jul 31, 2008 at 5:19 am

No need apologizing to us. This is the style that we apply to all of our custom vehicles. Far from factory.
Everyone wants to put the car on blast simply because it isn’t equipped with “Weld 17×10’s with some fat meaty tires”. Like that would look real up to date. This customer has driven the vehicle out of town twice, reutrning it to add about $9000 of stereo and video equipment. You can see it on Asanti’s website, check for it in an upcoming issue of RIDES Magazine.
And as far as performance both of these SRT8’s will rip a burnout with ease, and still perform nicely.
You want to complain about a muscle car?
Check out the 07 Corvette with the 22×9 and 24×9.5 Giovanna Dalars on it that belongs to a certain football player from Indianapolis.

the a$$hole who thought up the idea of putting “BIG” rims on nice cars needs a shotgun enima. putting big rims on doesn’t make a car cool, a cool car makes a car cool. besides what kind of a ride are you going to get from a low profile tire like that. the rims are gonna bend like a banana the first pothole you hit,not all roads are perfect. I’d like to see the faces on the mechanic when you tell him you need new tires too. he’d try to peel the tire like electrical tape.

The car with the orange wheels look pretty good. Mr. Copenhagen, before you get online calling people dumbasses, you should at least type a comment that is free of grammatical errors.

Patrick
Jul 31, 2008 at 5:08 am

I would prefer a 22″ rear 20″ front or at least a 22″ all the way around that was staggered with a 10″ or wider rear, and a 9.5″ front.

The chrome wheel is cool; not to crazy about the orange one.

Personally, I think that a more hot rod style billet wheel would be more appropriate. I can see even re-chroming that, to make it be a little more low maintenance.

That is what I did with my latest wheels.
Staggered; 10″ in the rear, 9″ in the front billet, that I have currently sent out to be re-plated in black nickel. Modern style, but with a more classic traditional wheel.

Jul 31, 2008 at 5:06 am

I like the rims and tires, but sadly… Not on this car.

If DG’s desire was to make the car look like a drag queen or a prostitute, they did it…. If their intent was to make it look masculine and muscular, then they failed…

These rims make the car sit too high up, and level…

Since the Challenger is supposed to be a factory muscle car, I believe it needs to have some rubber visible on the rims, and a stance that puts the wheels and tires up under, or at least inside, the fenders with a slight rake in it’s stance.

Put these wheels and tires on your Dodge Charger or Chrysler Aspen….
- BTW: I like the look of the Charger, but don’t feel that car should have the CHARGER name on it… It looks nothing like the 68-70 Chargers or the concept car that Diamler-Chrysler displayed before putting out an entirely different car with the name badge on it. – Nother story.. I’ll stop there.

Jul 31, 2008 at 5:06 am

This is the new age of muscle cars and if u go with big wheels just make big power. And if you can’t afford to burn 24 inch tires then get a 2nd job. Go big or go home.

Matt
Jul 31, 2008 at 5:01 am

That looks like crap. BIGGER DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN BETTER! A good set of 19’s-20’s would look 1000 times better. And not any set, because lets face it… Most 20+ inch rims are ghetto fabulous. Lets see a challenger with some CCW’s!

Copenhagen
Jul 31, 2008 at 4:47 am

Gee, who’d have thought that a blog about big rims would have brought out all the dumbasses that don’t know how to speak, let alone type in english. That or they do it on purpose to make them selves look “hard.” Haha. It bothers me to see people ruin a great car like that just for rims. Sorry to DG-Motoring but they just don’t belong on that style of car. Looks horrible. Oh, and Malcom M, just cause a car has big rims doesn’t mean its gona “kill” at car shows. Guess I’m a “hata,” hahahaha.

E-Dubb
Jul 31, 2008 at 4:46 am

I think they look good. A lot of you “so called” muscle car lovers don’t like the look of the big rims, but you are the first ones to take a stock muscle car and modify it until you run out of things to do it, or until your wives make you stop spending money on the damn thing! Next, you’ll complain about the CD player and want the eight track put back in the retro cars. Bigger rims are just another way of modifying your ride.

RED
Jul 31, 2008 at 4:44 am

It looks ugly, it needs 17’s with meaty tires, blah blah blah. Let’s see, it comes with 20″ stocks, so downsizing would be ridiculous. The look is sleek almost like a concept car. Some people are jsut simply stuck in a certain time era. If that’s you, then it is time to RETIRE. It is 2008, ok. . . . .

Jul 31, 2008 at 4:37 am

People mistake “looks like it fits in with the current trend” with “looks good”. I hear people say “it’s a matter of taste” all the time. Sure, taste is subjective, but this is NOT a matter of taste. These people aren’t doing it because they personally like the look. They’re doing it because, according to their status/race/neighborhood/etc, this is what they’re SUPPOSED to be doing. Their “taste” is dictated by their need to fit in and follow the crowd. Otherwise, certain looks wouldn’t be stereotypical of certain people, places, races, etc.

Gawd! That thing looks awwwfffuuullll! The Challenger is already a heavy pig, how much more weight do those bling-bling rims add? If I saw this thing for real I’d be expecting about 20 or more clowns to come pouring out of the thing. Poor Challenger…never did anything to anybody…what’d it do to deserve this? (Those rims look like wagon wheels…”Head ‘em up, move ‘em out … Rawhiiiiide, Yah!!”)

Cmdr. Flash Gumby
Jul 31, 2008 at 4:25 am

I can appreciate the look, just like I appreciate the Monster-Bug; great execution of an artistic vision, but it only really makes sense so long as the car isn’t driven.

What use is a performance car that loses two wheels two tires a good bit of the suspension and most likely a few of the driver’s fillings if it hit a pothole at speed? Give this thing some sticky shoes on 17-20″ lightweight wheels and it’ll eat up track or street. It’s likely the last of the 6.1L petrol-burning RWD V8’s. It *desrves* to be able to show off what it can do.

Kevin
Jul 31, 2008 at 4:23 am

I think that 24s are just too big for a muscle car. get some smaller rims and thicker tires to do some nice burnouts and look good doing it

Anthony
Jul 31, 2008 at 4:18 am

I’ll love to see some 17s with fat tires and loud pipes. I don’t think muscle cars look good with big rims with no tires, like what is happening with the chargers. Not good for performance.

Rob

To each his own, but the big wheels dont look good on any thing retro! Obviously the guy has some very large cash flow to blow that much cash on ugly wheels. I’d rather spend my cash building a cool vintage muscle car. I’d go with the 15×10s.

I have been putting oversized tires and wheel on my cars and pickup trucks since 1953.
My first car was a 34 plymouth with 820 16s on the back and a shaved head, fender skirts and painted on white sidewall tires.
And girls front and back.
Out ran a few fords on the top end.
I’ve found bigger diameter tires to handle better and give a little beter mileage plus increace the weight carrying capacity.
I’m Now looking at 19.5 inch tires or larger for my Dodge Diesel pickup.
I prefer the narrower higher profile tires.
They go through rain, mud and snow better.

The all wheel and no tire look belongs on cars such as Hondas etc that have a more powerful stereo than engine. They have foolish looking wing spoilers and unneeded hood scoops and a muffler to make them sound like my lawn mower. A retro muscle car should look like a muscle car. Get some 15X10’s on the back with big meaty rubber and skinny wheels on the front.

I like the chrome rims, personally dont care for the size. To each his own. I’m sure the overall tire diameter hasnt changed much or at all so the gear ratio wouldnt be effected. If anything you’d gain some mpg and still smoke everybody. If its a daily driver the ride will be a little rougher but Friday night cruiser allright. Alex
Jul 31, 2008 at 2:44 am

This is a very poor choice in looks and handling and it ruins on what looks like a sure bet from Mopar. The whole idea of a muscle car is to be fast in the 1/4 mile. The extra weight of the extra size rims not only hurt unsprung mass, but also decrease the final axle ratio. I would spend the extra money on getting the rear-end to be 4.3:1 axle ratio instead of the gas-saver 3.08:1 rear pumpkin. Gears multiply torque. So a stronger rear gearing will get the car out of the hole faster. These massive size wheels would actually defeat your gearing gains, in any gear, don’t look good, and are plain stupid. Is this a pretender, imposter or the real deal? These wheels are for the rapper crowd that thinks that a loud boom box in a car is customizing it. Put the money into exhaust, polished cylinder heads, and better rear gears.

Ok, the majority of the comments are negative so my opinion stands as tall as 26’s, If this is a retro Challenger MUSCLE car then why not put big wheels on it, I mean when you think of muscle u think BIG right. Its not like muscle cars of this era are not fuel injected anyway. The only cars with fuel injection of the day were Corvettes and Thunderbirds and if you ask me they were of top notch. Call it too much but isn’t that what Corvettes and Thunderbirds use to cost and everyone wanted one. More power to the new generation as we can restore the past!

Looks like it is owned by a guy (or gal) who just got into cars. It would look better on 22″ with taller sidewall. To look right, a muscle car needs more sidewall than Euro or Jap sportcars. Hence, it could be that 20″ is the best option.

This was intended to be a retro muscle car, why would you put 24s on it? 20s would look great. 20s look great on the S197 Mustangs. I’d love to know how slow, well slower, these 24s make the Challenger …

rwilson
Jul 31, 2008 at 2:00 am

looks like one of those model cars you buy at walmart. I agree with the other guy 18’s-19’s max. The car just DOES NOT LOOK good with those wheels. The body on this car is the focal point, not the wheels. You want the wheels to accent the car, not completely control the look. Change em back to 18’s or 19’s and it will be the badass it was intended to be.

24’s look nice, but 26’s would really set it off.

Dazz Wryght
Jul 31, 2008 at 1:50 am

I’m kinda new school so bigger rims are usually my first instinct. But being 30 yrs/old not old enough to remember these cars new but old enough to has seen muscle cars before restorations keeps me grounded. 24’s are too much. As a matter of fact I think we’ve gotten too big rim crazy. If you want a template to how your performance car should look then peer at its racing counterparts. That should give you the right idea to the tire to rim ratio. Once your ratio is confirmed then add chrome or color to taste.

Jul 31, 2008 at 1:46 am

ugly….makes me want to puke……just because a car has the room DOESNT MEAN PUT BIG WHEELS ON IT. looks like a kids toy and the value just went wayyyyyyy down. grow up. it looks awesome with factory wheels even if they are 20″. 2″ does make a difference because the car was built and dialed in with 20″ wheels. it is a performance retro car not a car to make people think you have money or whatever it is u do that for. stick to ur caddies and pos caprice’s and impalas.

Jul 31, 2008 at 1:30 am

Looks cheap or more like a girls car.

Suppose to be a remake of a muscle car. Big tires are a sign of a race car. Less tire makes it look less of a muscle car. Like changing the engine to a lawnmower engine.

But would be very pretty if paint the car pink. If that is the look you want.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I say as long as the owner is happy thats all that matters. Don’t like it well get your own ride and spice it up the way you want. Own a 08′ myself w/22’s let me tell you guys & gals be snapping there necks, taking pics, they all be dreaming and drooling about my ride. Stock w/20’s. this gal lays down rubber with them 22’s. no disadvantages here. But I can see where you old school boys are coming from and about the new trends (donks).

I hate this modern day trend to go with bigger and bigger wheels. I don’t mean to insult your work, but it looks like a hot wheels car. Sorry.

A nice set of old style 15″ rally wheels would look much nicer, or even some off the shelf 16-17″ers for that matter. anything over 17″ is a waste. What happens if you hit a bump in that thing, let alone a simple speed bump? you’ve just ruined your $1000 dollar rims is what.

As for the aesthetics…UGLY AS SHIT comes to mind. The car itself looks awesome…why ruin it with pieces of crap like that? Leave the muscle alone and go pimp your Honda rice burner with those things. Dodge + Rice/Bling = friggin retarded!

The body is fine, the wheels are just plain ugly! They look like Hotwheel cars. What’s the point, seriously? Big wheels don’t make any car look good. That’s just more mass for the motor to rotate. Think of the Donk at the track when the rear axles broke.

sandor
Jul 31, 2008 at 12:30 am

I too do not like the look with those rims. On that vehicle, I do not think that one should go over a 20 inch rim. It looks like something that should be on a pair of railroad track with those tires. Not enough rubber between the rim and the road. Also, not practicle. The roads are not smooth enough.

Steve McVay
Jul 31, 2008 at 12:28 am

Well for the most part i agree with everyone else when they start talking about breaking and how it will do on the track, but after seeing how the 24’s look i can’t really even picture the factories being back on there. Look at the picture and imagine the factories on there(doesn’t really look good does it?). Don’t get me wrong i would love to have one period even if it had lowrider tires on it, i would take it. But to me this does look good, I don’t really like the rims though (maybe the hipnotics in a twenty foe would be nice if they could be found).

I love the new look of the challanger and i really liked the factory wheels that came with the car i think these wheels are to big and the factory wheels should be put back on, dont get me wrong i like big wheels on some cars but this is not one of the cars that i think should have em.

Those rims ruin the car. I hate skinny tire profiles on most cars. Anything smaller than a 35 series tire is to small. It needs something closer to 20″ and a bigger profile on the tire. 45 series maybe.

Robert
Jul 31, 2008 at 12:10 am

Jul 31, 2008 at 12:08 am

That looks stupid, just plain stupid.

19 or 20s are just fine. Anything larger, no matter if its cast, or forged 2pc/3pc, has more rotating mass that takes away horsepower. The Challenger with smaller wheels will have better 0-60, 1/4mile. All the added weight of 24s means more inertia when trying to brake.

Dammit, I meant over 19 inches.

nathan
Jul 30, 2008 at 11:45 pm

The Challenger’s already got like 19s or 20s stock. Anything over 29 inches needs to stay the hell off of a muscle car, early or late-model. Oversized wheels like this make it look tacky, and being the elitist person I am, I would give the thumbs down if some guy pulled up next to me with wheels like those on a car like that.

i like this look on thos car the rims are just enough and not over the top. it still looks clean and classic. and the question asked “how does the car look?”, not how it will perform, stop, or accelerate. it looks great, so please keep your negative comments to yourself.

thats fucking gay. its a muscle car, not some gay import. its bad enough the challenger doesnt have crome bumpers, but not some faggot went and put big ungle wheels on it a ruined any “muscle” car look the new challenger had going for it. i cant get people puttin wheels on the charger, thats just some stupid sedan with the charger name, go fuck that up as much as you want.

I have to admit huge rims on a muscle car isn’t quite my cup of tea but I’d go with the one with the color matched wheels personally.

Jul 30, 2008 at 4:48 am

This Challenger SRT8 looks like some sort of concept car, something that Dodge would use in a video or commercial. I must admit I do like the color matched wheels better.

nick
Jul 30, 2008 at 4:22 am

22’s are the biggest i would go with personally because there is not enough sidewall on the 24. I mean shit what do you do with muscle cars–BURNOUTS- but if you want to ride around and looking extra “flossy” i guess go with them. personally 22 inch crager style wheels are what i would put on it. cool car though

Brett
Jul 30, 2008 at 4:18 am

The orange 24″ Asantis look real sick. I mean the top one has 24’s, yeah, but they don’t quite match the car in my opinion. I still like them both cause they’re DUBed out.

Jul 30, 2008 at 2:53 am

The car comes STOCK with 20’s… 4 inches bigger than stock is not that big of a deal its like throwing 20’s on my monte carlo. If you want to do it real big 26s and 28s would have this car sitting up a lil bit.. which actually I do think would look good but thats just my IMO.. i really wouldnt be trying to race a car like this, wheels do come off by the way.

Brandan
Jul 30, 2008 at 2:20 am

Alright ppl, If you dont like it then don’t do it to your car simple as that! If you do like it then do it to your car simple as that! Now I think sport cars shouldn’t have any bigger then 20′ rims any how, they start getting to heavy and the challenger is to heavy as it is! The car has to have 400 hp if it wants to move 4000 lbs!

Besides that it does look pretty good i just would never do it to my car! One other thing They need to stop making new muscle cars if they don’t have a MANUAL TRANNY that fucks with the whole point of haveing a sports car! DODGE STOP MAKING HUGE FUCKING CARS AND MAKING THE NEW BODY NOTHING COMPAREABLE TO THE CLASSICS! WE ALL KNOW ITS FOR THE GOD DAMN MONEY, AND PUT A STICK IN IT DAMMIT! CHARGER AND CHALLENGER WORST IDEA EVER! Atleast the newer GTO that pontiac made was descent and came in stick!

the car was made for 1 thing, which is speed, some people take looks a little too far.

MikeD
Jul 30, 2008 at 12:54 am

if your doing it for all for looks, then so be it, but if you want performance than there is no need for anything bigger than 20’s

Pressed_Ham
Jul 30, 2008 at 12:05 am

they fit the cars well, but i wouldnt go to 24’s. as soon as you get past 22’s you’re in “donk” territory in my book. plus after 20″ wheels, ride quality starts to become compromised.

John H.
Jul 29, 2008 at 11:57 pm

They might as well finish ruining it and make them 24″ spinners.

ChargerSRT8
Jul 29, 2008 at 11:44 pm

I think the older generation might be a little upset to see the “younger” generation turning their tradition into new style that they cant keep up with.

Lets face it, this has nothing to do with race, white and blacks both put huge rims on cars and like the way it looks. The modern day muscle car can handle the size and lets not forget it comes stock with 20″.

So for those saying it should have are 18 or 19″.. Dodge didnt think so… why? Because they know who they are marketing to with this car, the younger male aged from 21 to 30. It can be debated if its target was for 30+ year males who probablly like the car just as much as we do but take into account all the addons.. Kicker systems ect.

This car is about tradition crossed with MODERN STYLE.

If you dont like it, keep restoring your old one till it looks as good as this one.

Its nothing wrong with 24’s on this now if it was sitting up high like they do other cars then it would be to much some people get the care for the look so for speed its up to what you like

Rob
Jul 29, 2008 at 11:11 pm

Come on now, big rims on a muscle car? What the hell!? 20’s would barely pass. Seriously the spotlight of the muscle car is the motor, the power, the roar from the exhaust. Of course make it look good but don’t over do it. Put 24s on a full size SUV, not a muscle car.

Robert
Jul 29, 2008 at 11:04 pm

in my opinion i think that the dub look isnt for the challenger. finally dodge did it right with the challenger, it should keep its muscle look. like the dodge charger was a kick in the teeth to and fan of the car and when people decided to put dubs on it it was kicking it while it was down. dubs have there place. this isnt one of them

24’s aren’t really my thing. But, I like both old school and new styles coming out. I personaly like the stock 20’s on it with a little more tire. But, the 24’s to me do look good. They fit into the wheel well nicely and don’t look bad at all to me. The orange is a little much for me, but i think it is just on those actual wheels. If the top ones were orange on the inside i think i would like them better. I would like to see one with Draglites and big M/T’s on the back and skinnys on the front. Either way, the new Challenger is SICK! Too bad they are all auto’s the first year.

XtremeZAO
Jul 29, 2008 at 9:53 pm

I hate them!!! It was only a matter of time for “someone” to put them on there and make a beautiful car ugly! No bigger than 20’s cuz that’s close to factory size. Anybody that has to lift a car just to put bigger wheels on it should have there license revoked.

i agree with the 1st comment but maybe 18s in the front and 20s in the back just because its such a beautiful car.
the second pic of it is absolutley hideous…

Tyler
Jul 29, 2008 at 9:26 pm

I THINK YOU WILL ALL AGREE WITH ME WHEN I SAY BIG WHEELS ARE LIKE – S, JUST BECAUSE THEY PUT THEM ON, DOESN’T MEAN THEY LOOK GOOD. I’d like to see this car with some 17s in the front real skinny, 18s on the back with some rubber that will twist off the line. make the rubber cover just as much room as those rims. Now that would be the ultimate. Get them off a challenger and run them over with some meats. and for you homos who dont think it affects performance. I would like you to have your buddy who hasn’t done ANYTHING to theres, and race one of these, and i bet the stock one will win by atleast .3 seconds in the 1/4 mile. thats AT LEAST.

alvin
Jul 29, 2008 at 9:00 pm

I bet you who ever owns a challeger SRT or charger SRT sitting on 22’s or higher is not pushing it hard at all or once in a while..because the torque that engine puts down would tear those rims apart…and wear those tires down quick.. still it looks nice though

Absolutely disgusting, waste of a new Challenger. DG Motoring doesn’t deserve to have ownership of those vehicles anymore, they need to be confiscated and treated right. Rip those 24″ rims off, destroy the donker image, and lay it out the way a muscle car should be.

Oafman
Jul 29, 2008 at 7:28 pm

Those top rims are SOOOO not the right rims for that car. That is way too much chrome for the Challenger. The second set fits much better. When choosing new rims they need to complement the car not draw attention away from the car.

Jul 29, 2008 at 7:22 pm

I personally do not like the look of the 24’s on this car just because they look a little too big. The body style doesn’t hold up to the 24’s, if it were a bigger vehicle they would look nicer in my opinion. Just a little too big imo.

I think it looks awesome for the show, it would prolly look pretty good with 22s wrapped in 35s too. If it was mine I’d prolly try and keep a lil bit of tire on there cuz i would definetly wanna spin some wheels. 20s 22s 24s all match this car it all depends on how u drive.

I agree with this guy. Plus it all comes down to personal preference. I don’t find the stock wheels ugly and I certainly can’t look at them while driving, I’d rather have performance. But I’ll be holding out for the new Camaros! The general better make a Z28!

Who the hell keeps saying “the car needs no bigger than a 19″ is obviously an idiot. Do your research pal, the car comes stock with 20″ wheels. And not only that, the overall diameter off these 24’s are the exact same as the stock wheels. So guess what that means? It won’t alter the speedometer at ALL! ! !

Whoever says that this is a bad idea because it is a muscle car must remember that the purpose of car domain is for individuals to reflect THEIR style in/on/under the hoods of THEIR car. Personally I like it. He didn’t put the rims on it to improve his 1/4 mile and if he did then anyone calling him an idiot is justified. But he put them on their because it’s his “art.” He enjoys how it looks.

I wonder if he will do the interior the same.

Why do people have to make things out to be racist or saying that people are Haters when they express their opinion about how something looks, ERRBODY has their opinion….I think the car looks good with the orange rims but puttin 24 inch rims on a muscle car defeats the purpose of it…..performance. The Challenger with the orange rims doesn’t look that bad, but putting 24’s on a muscle car is just retarded. Muscle cars shouldn’t have anything bigger then 19’s on them. I’ve seen worse though, I work at a car storage place for rare cars and stuff like that in the middle of hick country in R.I. and we have a 70′ and 72′ Chevelle SS, 69′ Camaro Z28, and a 69′ GTO and all of them have 24’s, That is what gets me mad. We even have a 72′ AMC Javelin with spinners! Who the hell does that?

Brian
Jul 29, 2008 at 2:35 pm

If you’re going to slap 24’s on something, make it something worth while. It looks stupid on muscle cars, in my opinion. Like someone else said earlier, anything bigger than 19’s on a muscle car is going to make it look less and less muscular if you ask me.

R Lamb
Jul 29, 2008 at 2:25 pm

DOESN’T LOOK THAT BAD… NEEDS TO BE LOWERED A BIT. THE CONCEPT CAMARO

its funny that one of the biggest mopar and car guy alive dont share the feelings of those who sware they know cars. If it such a terrible idea to put a bigger wheel on a car then why would CHIP FOOSE do it? and if you dont know who he is then your not a car guy and if you dont agree with his taste in styling then you disagree with…hey i dont know… maybe every muscle car and custom car competition ever. So before you say what a car cant do with bigger tires look at the guys you look up to the most and ask why they did it?

I can’t believe we are having a racist debate over rims. Personally i think it’s the american way to go big. Everything we do we do it big. When we went to the moon, we did it big. When we go to war, we do it big. It’s the American way people. You either do it big are don’t do it at all. So don’t hate cause you don’t have a challenger, and you cannot afford to put 24’s on your moms chevy lumina. Don’t hate hater congratulate. Maybe if you got off the couch and stop playing Xbox in your moms basement and go work. One day, and i’ll say it again hater, one day you too can put some 24’s on something. And as far as this being a black and white thing don’t go there because you know it’s not. So don’t try to make it out to something it’s not. Because all my friends who have big trucks got 24’s on them. And another thing only stupid people try to do burnouts with 24’s on their rides, so the comment about the burnout you should think before you talk.

Nisha
Jul 29, 2008 at 11:20 am

I think it’s ridiculous how racism still exist today and all because of a car with rims. WOW!!! Well i have plenty of white friends who aren’t what you call “ghetto white boys tryna be black” and they have big ass rims on their cars. It’s sort of like fashion. It’s a unique style that has become big in the african american community. To call someone stupid, because they choose to spend their $$ however they feel isnt fair and just plain ignorant. If it’s something that you’re not into, then you’re just not into it. And did you know that the people who own this car is WHITE????? So to whomever still has the audacity to pull the race card over some damn rims should be ashamed and be embarassed. And dont be so damn jealous. I honestly believe you wish you could do it….just cant….cause i got 24″ too and EVERYBODY LOVES MY SHIT…..BY THE WAY DID I MENTION I WAS A FEMALE

These topics are always funny to me! It always goes back and forth about it being a “black or white” car. I personally wouldn’t put 24’s on it, I probably go 20’s. But if you’ve seen cribs, or any car magazines they’re other races that put big rims on there cars. Travis Barker, Tommy Lee, Kid Rock…thats just a few white guys that have big rims on there cars. Have yall seen Unique whips? They put big rims on Tony Stewart’s Caddy Hearse, as well as Mark Ecko’s trucks.

hi

Some nice comments guys.

I happen to live in the ” developing” world and have a small question.

I had a bit** of a time trying to get 17 inch wheels onto my Maxima, and was wondering how the hell they get those 22s onto them rims? Is there a special machine or what ?

With our fantastic (not) roads 17s are also impractical :)

24’s are great if your trying to make it look retarded. I bet you don’t even get more than 1 burnout off of those tires. Retarded…

Jul 29, 2008 at 6:30 am

I personally think that it looks alright for ridin’ around town, but he better have some slicks for the track. Them’ tiny ass tires can’t match up to the 425 hp on that thing. But whatever floats your boat..

I think the whole big wheel craze looks ridiculous. When 18s came out, I thought they looked dumb, when 20s came out, I just shook my head. I didnt even know they made 24s till now, and they look the creepiest of all. Makes that poor Challenger look like a Matchbox toy or stylized roller skate or something. I’m a die-hard 15 inch rim guy, but I can deal with 16s. Its not about being different and God knows its not about race…its about aesthetics, and those big rims with super low profile tires just dont compliment the vehicle. They might look ok on a street legal tractor or something, but c’mon…bigger aint always better…especially in this case. Wouldnt some modern 16 inch Cragar SSs look cool? Maybe I’m just old fashioned…..

I like muscle cars with big rims for the most part. The one with the Asanti’s looks best IMO

I've had it!
Jul 29, 2008 at 5:53 am

I swear, I can always count on some sort or racist ass comments when I read these blogs. “Oh, it has big rims on it, it should go in a RAP video.” You clowns need to get a life. The reason I joined this website is because I a fucking car fanatic, all kinds, all genres, all makes and models. But you sorry bitches who can’t accept different ideas and different styles immediately jump on some sort of racist bullshit. Yes, I’m black. And yes, I have a car with big rims on it. But get this white folks, I also have a F-350 4×4. Because I’m not going to limit myself to vehicles and styles that you consider “black”. Part of me really think that these comments stem from the fact that we, black people, put more money into our cars than you make in a year. So with that comes jealousy. And we all know, “If you’re a jealous mutherfucker, you’re just a weak mutherfucker, you weak jealous mutherfucker!” Do the world a favor and keep your comments to yourself. This is a website for all auto enthusiasts, not just Mopar, or Off-road, or Hood, or Exotic. Get that through your heads. Oh, and those Challengers are the shit. I can’t wait to see what everybody does to them.

big car. big rims. Perfect fit and looks good. Not to big on the chrome tho, matching color looks good. Oh, the car is just as fast with the big rims and rubber it has.. if you wanna get off the line quick than obviously rubberbands arent gunna cut it.

Jul 29, 2008 at 5:40 am

Since people seem to hate 22+ rims so much, I’m gonna put 10″s on my formula and offset them so they stick out 14 feet. Ever seen a festiva like that?

John
Jul 29, 2008 at 5:32 am

Wow, it’s crazy how some people just simply hate for no reason. I own a rim shop in Nashville TN, and purchase quite a few sets of Giovanna and Asanti wheels from these guys a week. Hasn’t anyone seen the rest of their garage? They oversize everything, 24’s on 745s, 26s on a Rolls Royce Phantom, 30’s on the Yukon and SUT. Obviously none of you guys have attended the SEMA show. Their type of customizing is all you see. That’s just their style, not that it is wrong or right. I just hate to see everyone on here put them on blast simply because the Challenger isn’t fitted with some drag radials. They do great work.

Tony
Jul 29, 2008 at 5:26 am

a little to big in my opinion. The main reason is because look at the tire there is none just a a thin piece of rubber wrapped around a big ass rim.

Jul 29, 2008 at 4:46 am

Haha… the more I look at the car and the rims, the more I think thats kind of cool. I wouldn’t want my truck dissed because I did what I wanted with it. And trust me if you saw it you’d laugh, but hey I like it and I’m happy. The Challanger is still the sweetest thing ever, and some monster rims might seem silly, but hey, if it makes you happy, then thats all that matters. Its still a beautiful muscle car though, but whatever. Just my random opinions.

Turbo_Rebel07
Jul 29, 2008 at 4:39 am

Not liking the rims. Come on? Its a MUSCLE CAR!!! Built to eat the rode not twinkle its toes! But, the matching colors of the rims and paint are somewhat cool. But still. I guess its whatever your into.

Jul 29, 2008 at 4:30 am

it all depends on how u wana roll IMO but i think that smaller wheels.. say 20″ with some fatass tires would look alot hotter on the back, if that thing had 12″ wide rear tires with 9-10″ in the front rollin on 20’s.. then you’d be talking sone serious looks.

MoparRob07
Jul 29, 2008 at 4:01 am

Don, I can see your point on the 20 – 24 issue. With those #’s, it’s not that big of a change, right?! What comes to mind is that commercial or magazine ad where some 300 + pound dude is wearing a speedo. Just ’cause it fits don’t make it OK.
That’s what I like about this blog, you can say what you want, and it’s OK.

im not a big fan of the ginormous rims on the new challenger. Just doesnt look right to me. That SRT is made to haul ass, should have put on some smaller rims with fat, wide tires

Jul 29, 2008 at 3:36 am

I’ve got to admit that I’m not a big fan of oversized rims. Putting those on a muscle car always seems wrong.

Tyler
Jul 29, 2008 at 3:31 am

to random poster of dissing me, They put them for cars because they knew people would buy them. but you know, people also buy prius’. doesnt mean its a good idea but its a popular (dont know how) market. but it is for trucks. and for the whole trucks are to be lifted and breaking the rules, Thats for 4WD trucks. Cars are supposed to stay at stock ride hight or lower for better handling. (not sure on exact specs here) but say this thing stock is 8 inches off the ground, its now 10 which will make it handle a helluva lot worse. Have you ever seen a mud bogger jeep run the 1/4 mile, it wobbles all the way down the track and almost flips, just like doing it to a car.

Jul 29, 2008 at 3:21 am

I would say they are just a little too big for my taste…I absolutely love the new challenger but the rims are too big..the one with the orange rims that match aren’t as bad as the chrome ones but still kinda ruined.

Don
Jul 29, 2008 at 3:14 am

Lets see, my speed reading found …”thats gay”…”Hidious”…”thats terrible”…and “AAAAHHHHHH!”

What ever.

Someone else said that the car looks fine on its stock 20’s. Now do the math. They went from 20’s to 24’s

Hmmmm

From my perspective, and I have closely followed the Challenger from concept to reality, four inches merely creates a mild modification here. This anin’t no Donk, Bubble or what have you. This really is very mild by comparison. It looks like those model car at KB Toys.
Actually, it isn’t at all unattractive unless you don’t like the
Challenger to begin with.
Now take a 66 Impala, change those rims from the stock 14’s (!) and throw some 22’s on it and we’re talkin’ change!

yo me i say the only big tires a muscle car should have are some drag radials on the back tires

Ryan
Jul 29, 2008 at 2:55 am

Rims that big do not belong on anything. Just does not look right.

GTwildfire
Jul 29, 2008 at 2:51 am

they’re not tires, just rubber painted onto the rims. Sorry, stuff like that is a joke. Tires like that don’t do what tires are supposed to do, get the ride from point A to point B… and protect the rims and suspension in the process. just looks freaking stupid.

Tim
Jul 29, 2008 at 2:32 am

The chrome wheels look alright, but would look better on a BMW, Mercedes, Escalade, etc.. The orange wheels are ugly. The stock wheels are very nice, but if you have to have aftermarket wheels, no more than 21 inch and definitly chrome. Also a thicker tire would make it look a lot better and ride a lot better.

Somebody shoot me. The key to a muscle car looking like a muscle car are the tires, not the rims.

I want to see some meat on the tires, instead it looks like it can be pulled behind a horse.

cknarf
Jul 28, 2008 at 11:33 pm

Sure, the rims are pretty ugly, but that doesn’t mean 24s couldn’t be fitted and look tasteful. I bet with a nice set of 5-point wheels, this would look loads better.
-
I think many people instantly hate the wheels just because they see ‘24′.
-
When I see a 1980s Monte Carlo towering over a full size truck, I puke. But when you can squeeze the right set of 24″s on a car, without a massive lift kit, and without them pokiing out the sides, I think you’ve done a good job.
-
Would I put them on my car, no. If I could, would I? No.
-
If this was a classic charger,I’d consider it a crime.

Jul 28, 2008 at 8:25 pm

While I respect everyone’s taste when it comes to what rings their bells, being from the old school, for me seeing those wheels on that ride seems sacrilegious. In the same breath I am sure many adults felt the same way when I was putting rims on 60’s cars. But like everything else, everyone is entitled to his or her own taste. Thank God we don’t all dress alike.

Bobby
Jul 28, 2008 at 8:09 pm

The chrome ones don’t look that bad, but they’d look a lot better in 22’s with an actual set of tires, not rubberbands. And the orange ones: HIDEOUS!!!!!!!!! they should be shot for ruining such a perfectly nice Challenger.

MoparRob07
Jul 28, 2008 at 8:07 pm

Two things, one, the Challenger looks fine on it’s stock 20’s.
Second thing, IMHO, it was dumb to debadge a new car, especially this one.

cknarf
Jul 28, 2008 at 7:48 pm

On challengers, 24s look great for one main reason.
They dont have to be 24 feet off the ground to pull it off!
I love how it still appears low with the massive amount of chrome.

Tony
Jul 28, 2008 at 7:35 pm

I can see this blog causing some heated debate. I’m not feeling those rims at all on that Challenger. I don’t mind the rims, say on an Escalade, but not on a modern-day muscle car. Each to their own, but in my opinion, they do not suit at all!
