Incredible DIY Tumbler
By John Coyle
Editor
Yup, Bob Dullam built this insane Tumbler replica in his garage, all by himself. Right now, the folks on VW Vortex and SuperheroHype are worshiping him as a god, and one look at the photo below will tell you why. The ace fabricator has been working off of pictures and the "Making of the Tumbler" extra from the Batman Begins DVD, and has custom made everything except the wheels, tires and rear axle. When he’s done, the result will be a drivable version of the burliest Batmobile ever. Wow. Even for someone who makes a living building movie replicas, this project is insane. Five more pics after the jump.

Seriously people! What kind of gas mileage do you think he will achieve with this monstrosity? Oh, it’s a hybrid? You don’t say! Well, I stand corrected! 12/15 isn’t too bad afterall.

If only it was driveable. Look at the pics, especially from the front. You can see right through to the ground. Cant wait to see how it progresses.

Awsome car for sure, can’t believe amount of work involved. I was in Chicago during filming one night. My son Tyler was an extra on the movie,he was policeman. I saw the Tumbler come roaring down the street and do a 360 and I was standing maybe 50 feet away. The car looked very cool that nite, and this one looks just as cool. GREAT JOB Hi Tyler

I agree with the above mentioned six flags posts. They have GOT to update Batman. Put this tumbler in there and bring back the show (which was the best part of Gotham City in the first place).. The Gotham City you see now at Six Flags is outdated baddd

I wonder how he has the steering linkages setup? I see he is using hoosier circle track tires for the fronts and 44″ Boggers for the rear… Serious rubber! As a side note, you know a fabricator is bad @ss when he is making movie cars in his BARE FEET (see pic) LOL thats awesome!!! Click on my link if you like custom cars:)

Calvin, I couldn’t agree more! I was just at Six Flags of Georgia this past week, and the whole Gotham Section of the park was completely outdated, with the batmobile from the old Keaton days sitting in the center. A much needed update is in order. This Tumbler is an engineering feat in and of itself. Whoever built this is the man!!!
Calvin
Aug 6, 2008 at 2:51 am
I think places like Six Flags would pay good money for this! Six flags needs to update batman!
