Meadowbrook: Aerocar

By Katherine Helmetag

AKA atomicalex

Ed Sweeney is quite the exotic car owner. Not only did he invite me to climb into the only remaining flying Aerocar, he whisked my kids into it, also. Like every other vehicle at the Concours d’Elegance, the Aerocar arrived under its own power, having flown into Detroit a few days earlier. The wings and tail section fold and stow as a trailer that is towed behind the Lycoming-powered cab. The propeller is at the rear of the tail section, and pushes the bubble-shaped podcar to airspeeds of around 100mph. Check out the rest of the pics after the jump.

I saw this on 101 cars too. I think they said they’re three actually left but one only flys.
