Color Change Via Wrap?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Ok, wraps with lots of graphics and stuff can be kind of cool, but how about doing a wrap for a color change? Check out this 3-series in Munich, Germany. I guess the guy thought white would look better than black. There have been a lot of matte black wraps lately, too, like the one on this F430. Keep in mind this treatment costs anywhere from $1,500 to $4,000, and the door jams, etc., remain unchanged. So what do you think of this trend? More pics of the Bimmer after the jump. It’s not that expensive if you can do it yourself. It only cost around $230 for flat black vinyl.

I reckon it’s a good idea: in a few years when you get stone-chip damage, or some idiot thought he’d decorate your car with his key, no worries: just take off the sticker and put another one on!

i think this is for people who need a quick color change for whatever reason… i’m guessing this takes just a day to do, unlike having it painted over… i suppose if you have that much money for a trial run of sorts, better if you just have it painted over and over as you please… it doesn’t shine quite as much as real paint does, either…

Nice way to prevent chips and scratches on a new car and keep the paint mint, especially on an something like an exotic or limited edition vehicle.

I don’t really like it. It might be a good idea if you are searching for your dream coat on a really expensive car and you have money to burn. kinda like a test coat.

thats like from the movie “Taxi” with the robber’s 7 series, they peel off the red vinyl to reveal a blue car underneath.

sure of course it would be dumb as a permanent application. but it would be great on deciding on a paint job your unsure of. like if you want your car to be white but can’t decide you can just put some new cloths on it for a few months and see how you like it?

Lame. The first rock chip ruins the whole thing. With paint, you can touch up chips, but not with this crap. Add this to the list of dumb things rich people buy.

Is there a way to simply peel off and change it back or does it mess up the color underneath?

yeah, but for that kinda money, you could paint the whole car and actually have jambs that match.

It would be a good way to stop minor scratches and rock chips on a new car.
.
The ability to change the color is pretty cool too.
