Talking With Driver Brian Kubinski

Last year, Brian Kubinski had some pretty rotten luck. He’d qualified 14th for the ALMS race at Sebring, and despite torrential rain, managed to move up to sixth place. That’s when things started to go wrong. The driver in front of him spun, and while Brian managed to avoid colliding with him, he would up spinning his Z06 Corvette, and got struck by another racer in the process. While the damage forced him out of the competition, the worst wasn’t over yet. On the way home, the brakes on the trailer containing the race car caught fire, and the whole rig burned up. Ouch. But while that setback had to be heartbreaking, the wizards at CRP Racing just rolled up their sleeves and started rebuilding the car. Looking at this wicked ‘Vette now, you’d never know it had been a smoldering heap! Currently, its 6.0-liter LS2 is producing 560 horsepower and 480 lb-feet of torque, so it must be a handful on the track. Let’s hope Brian has a great race when he hits Road America this weekend—he deserves it! Six more pics after the jump.
