Corvette Racing C6R Takes Win of GT1 Class

For most of the day, the #3 Corvette Racing C6R and it’s sister car, the #4, dominated the GT1 class. Unfortunately, on lap 76, the #4 left the track and wound up with a banner for the now-defunct CHAMP car series wrapped around its nose. After seeing that incident unfold on the monitors in the press center, one of the journalists watching remarked that was the best advertising he’d seen for the series in years, which brought chuckles from the crowd. But the accident was a bad break for a car that had performed so well all day. Predictably, teammates Johnny O’Connell and Jan Magnussen didn’t mention it when they came into the press room to talk about their victory—they were too busy smiling. When O’Connell was asked if he had any issues with the car, he responded that his biggest problem occurred while entering during the driver change, saying "I slipped. I think I hurt my ribs, but if that’s the biggest issue, we’re ok." Well said, man. Check out a picture of O’Connell and Magnussen fielding questions after the jump.
