Meadowbrook: BAT 11

By Katherine Helmetag

AKA atomicalex

Everybody wants a customized car, but only the really deep pockets can afford to commission a concept car from Stile Bertone. That would be Gary Kaberle, and the car is the BAT 11, making its American Debut at Meadowbrook this past weekend. Replete with beautiful ladies doing both eyecandy and security duty, the Italian design study based on an extended Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione chassis was by far the fan favorite at the Concours event. I love the sultry, Lauren Bacall-esque hooded wheel arches that shade the iris-like carbon fiber detailing on the wheels. Even though this prototype is not a runner, I hope these wheels make production one day. This vehicle shows what even the bankruptcy-stalled Stile Bertone studio can accomplish–a raucous and vibrant reinterpretation of the original BAT trio that stays true to the originals and completely transcends them.

Yes this is the finest in Alfa design. The original Bat trio were just as stunning. This is a great way to update a look and retain the all important styling ques that made the originals so stunning.
As quesocryer below mentioned the Bat mobile theme, Yes there are Bat like wings over the boot, or trunk. That was the design que that gave the originals the “Bat” moniker, and had there been a call for a Batman movie back in the day, these Alfa’s would have sufficed nicely. This particular car would have made a great everyday car for Christian Bale’s Batman/ Bruce Wayne had the makers of the movie known about it. Sure the Lambo works fine, but this car is really just too smooth!
I would venture to say that Alfa has been the only Car Maker to actually design concepts that really do look like a Super Hero’s whip. Too bad this one is a private car, and the others were just concepts. I’d drive one, even with the rotten blind spots!

“NAW YO WAT YAER IZ DAT YO///// NEED TA NOW.”

“Naw yo”: Is that Chinese? Korean?

“Wat yaer iz dat”: “Year” is apparently sexually confused on some level. And doesn’t know what goes where. Rumor has it that “What” and “Is” are too long to write out, so they had to be abbreviated. “That” has just been castrated.

“Ta now”: More Chinese?

“Need” some how avoided the massacre unharmed. Most likely because Boss Masta couldn’t think of a way to dismantle it. Try this next time Boss Masta, “Neeedz” or perhaps “N33DZ”
