I worked for 16 hours straight, came home, and my friend who’s in the marines was back from iraq. So we did what we always used to do, we fought, shit was fun. After that we got to fuck around with an ’08 Dodge Nitro R/T, not bad, it has some balls, not to mention the sound system was pretty good for a stock system (what do you expect it was an infinity system). Than we drank played guitaar hero, and im back off to work.

I went to the Summer Cruise at the Shepered of the Hills on Saturday. It was a very good show. The weather was perfect. There were a lot of very nice cars and trucks. “Deputy Cletus Hogg” (Rick Hurst) from the Dukes of Hazzard was there. I had a lot of fun.

OH and I ordered a pair of double angel eye projector headlights, in a black finish for my Grand Prix GT. Things are going so well with the Firebird that I’m including the GP once more on the mod list

I had a pretty awesome weekend.

Last week I followed up any leads I could find in a quest for a nice set of rims for my new project, the cardinal (red firebird). The twisted Pontiac “phone dial” rims fairly common on 4th gen Firebirds are pretty damn hideous IMO. I wanted something chrome, dirt cheap and ASAP. Every lead ended up sold already, I had to bite my lip and not tell them to pull their damn ads from craigslist. Others didn’t bothering returning calls. Ebay was useless, leaving few options for a good set of rims.

I ended up expanding the search to include S10 blazers and pickups, etc that use the same 5×4.75 bolt pattern and viola! Got a lead about 20 minutes away. The tires were useless, having come off a blazer and with a generous outer diameter on the 18″ rims. The rims, however were PERFECT and in very good shape. They’re Anteras, Italian-made and included an extra center cap and valve stems integrated beneath the center caps. I PAID $270!

The next day I took them to Tire City in neighboring Bristol, PA and had some affordable Nankang 255/40′s mounted. The car rides great and I can breathe a sigh of relief that there aren’t butt-ugly things spinning beneath my ride anymore.

The “cardinal” is really taking off now. Interior mods are forthcoming, way sooner than the time it took with my last Firebird.

Not as cool as the Smart and the expensive running out of gas story, but I helped replace the the valve cover gasket and the oil pan gasket in my old 1963 Ford Falcon Station Bus. I also, singlehandedly, removed, cleaned and replaced the fuel tank in this old sweetheart.

I went to Formula D as well with my brother and cousin. Even though we got soaked, it was an absolute blast.

stewart has a twisted story. the roadmaster…a friend got one for free from his grandma and sold it for next to nothing…and it took a loooong time to sell it for next to nothing..grandma owned. My area is bizarre like that. Anyway..my weekend involved changing 22 year old original rear struts on the daily driver. Some might guess subaru of course…. after all the welding, its time for the glorious moment of not only appearing tougher suspensioned…but guts of the body to match. Bolts so stuck it echoed off buildings…8 hours or so later, with the 200lb spring rarity finally conquered..KYB struts are great..a few days of creaking the old steel hulled mini ship and back to straight as a dragster..

Went to a car show on Saturday.

Should have gotten gas on the way there, but since it was only
29 miles away, figured I’d buy it there, since we were running late,
as my 16 year old son did not want to wake up

Got completely lost, as we did a wrong turn…

We were having such fun talking and listening to music, that we didn’t realize how lost we were, until…
.
We ran out of gas… In the middle of nowhere…
.
Finally a State Trooper stopped, and gave us the name of a local tow company.

$55.00 later, and we had two gallons of fuel, and we made it to the next town, and filled up
.
Made it to the show 3.5 hours late…
.
When we got there, someone said: “why is a regular car going in with the show cars?”, as we drove into the car show area…

The first 75 cars got goodie bags and t-shirts.

We were #76.
.
Decided we’d grab some burgers there…
.
Burgers were almost completely RAW…
.
We were gonna leave, but we were blocked in by other show cars.

During the show, someone stole the plastic caps off my Optima battery top posts…
.
Finally, the awards ceremony started…
.
When he got to my class (1980-2008), the announcer stated
“this car is, in my opinion, one of the coolest and nicest
cars here today, the 1994 Buick Roadmaster owned by Stewart…”

It’s funny how winning a really tall 1st place trophy can turn
a crummy day into a good day
