Gumball Lambo Driver Blamed For Scary Rollover Wreck
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
As the Gumball rally blasted through California on the I5 this week, a Ford Excursion towing a camper trailer got squirrelly, jack-knifed, and (reportedly) flipped over—and the driver of a black Lamborghini was blamed for causing the accident. Looking over the grainy footage shot by another Gumball participant, it’s really hard to see how or when there was any interaction between a Lambo and the Excursion. One possibility is that the Lambo, which may or may not be one of the black dots in the second-from-the-right lane (not the car directly in front of the shooter), spooked the Excursion driver by appearing alongside him. Perhaps the driver went to change out of the far-right lane, saw the Lambo suddenly there, and got startled. But would that make it the Lambo’s fault? Maybe there’s a clause somewhere stating that when a Lamborghini is within a half-mile of any rollover wreck on any public road, its driver is automatically at fault. See for yourself!

The driver of the Silver LP-640 is actually the one being accused. A CGT owner (who can be seen in the videos) is responsible for laying the blame on the lamborghini owner. Its basically a finger pointing contest although tt certainly looks like no one was really at fault.
There were kids injured inside of the camper trailer and I’m guessing that is why the excursion owner is also quick to point fingers… cause of course it couldn’t be his fault for injuring his kids! How stupid can you be to drive with people in a camper trailer?!

all though low quality i can see that the tralier is starting to whip right before the lambo enters the lane next to the trailer. so i dont even think the driver ever saw the lambo. the lambo would still be in the blind spot. not unless the excursion had big mirrors (witch it doesnt). the drivers is just and idiot. i think the driver of the lambo should press charges for puting his car in harms way >=)

thats driver error, period… driver didnt let up on the gas as soon as the trailer started wagging, which appears to have started even before the lambo was anywhere near it, though its hard to tell in that video…

Why are they blaming the Lambo? Is the person saying that is the lambo’s fault the same one that said O.J. is innocent?

I’d bet anything the trailer was being towed too fast and I think the driver wasn’t skilled enough at pulling a trailer in the first place.

ya, you can see the excursion just starting to flip over in the last couple frames. The lambo probably just passed him on the left quickly as he was changing lanes and not checking, he swerved back when the lambo startled him and lost control. Definitely an inexperienced driver.

Anyone that has a lot of experience towing trailers can tell you when a trailer begins “whipping” as it is called, either the trailer is loaded wrong (i.e., too little weight on the tongue) but usually due to driving too fast with an improperly set up trailer. This is very common with race car trailers being pulled by novice drivers.

That was hairy, the only this is that I dont see the excursion being able to roll over with the way the trailer jack knifed.

Second of all its looks like they checked up which caused the trailer to start swerv’n

No ones at fault except for the Excursion owner for not knowing how to regain control of his trailer. He clearly had the space and time.
