I’ve notice that it doesn’t work with a different browser other than Internet Explorer. How about making it compatible with other browsers.

Ok… so i just bounched from my home computer (HP something erother from late 2003, Mozilla) to my computer at work (HP something erother from like early 2008, Internet Explorer) both windows and now i am having trouble messing around with my page… hmm… so really i am now un-decided if i like it or not…

and for the individual that called me out… im sorry if i came off as a douche bag… i really dont know much about computers and working with pages… and what works and doesnt work on other “systems”, and it worked alright on my home computer but now… this $h!t sucks for when im at work and i want to mess around with cardomain

Bad Upgrade! The older version was far more user friendly and straight forward. The absence of the alignment feature now is ridiculous. The only way to set up your page as you want it now is by editing it via the html option, which most users like myself are not very familiar with if at all. Fortunately, I noticed the coding error and fixed my page only after wasting much time reading through the html coding.

J-Mac, don’t be a douche bag, notice the bar that you have to change your page with, some of us don’t have that option so we can’t update our pages because someone got an idea and didn’t think it through before pushing it out to the rest of us. Typical crappy coders.

Aug 19, 2008 at 12:13 am

well… i was a total hater about this new set-up but after a while i was getting use to it (and i hate working with web pages and computers in general)… i had to redo a few pages but the text i had before remained and all i had to do was double click the photo to get it back on the page… my page looks like i never changed a thing… besides more pictures i put it… so for all you haters… take a minute and work with it… you might end up liking it

Aug 18, 2008 at 10:47 pm

I really don’t think its better, its actually a little more hard to get used to this, i hope you guys can take a closer look and let us something a little more easyer to use.

UPDATE:
.
.
So the new system is actually pretty kick ass once you get your pages done. The only issue as I mentioned before is that the older HTML code is not compatable with the new systems HTML code, this is why everything is not laying out correctly for anyone. This was my horror when I realized that I had to redo all 13 pages of my ride page. 18 hours of editing later & it is finally complete! Yes it realy sucks ass that everything needs to be redone to make it work but the end results are worth it. My page is much better now and alot more user friendly to follow through.

Good job Cardomain, it would have been better if the 2 systems could have reconized each others codeing to avoid all the rework.

Aug 18, 2008 at 5:22 pm

I’m with these guys – it’s not user friendly at all. I juts tried to change one word in my very, very basic page and now its completely scrambled and I can’t get it back! I agree that the old system was limited, but it was easy and got the point across. If the new system stays, please, PLEASE make the editor page and the public page the same size so that what you see is what you get when you click “save and view page”.

John
Aug 18, 2008 at 4:13 pm

This isnt user friendly. The last one was so simple to use, everything was organized, and the fonts were all the same size. Sounds like a lot of people are having troubles and thats the last thing you want on a great website like this. Face it, we want it simple again. There was no problem with the old one, so why ruin a perfectly good setup?

Change it back, im getting pissed

John
Aug 18, 2008 at 4:07 pm

CHANGE IT BACK! THIS IS A WASTE OF OUR TIME! NOBODY LIKES IT! MAKES MY PAGE LOOK LIKE A PIECE OF SHIT, AND LOOKS LIKE A 4 YEAR OLD TYPED IT ALL TOGETHER. NOTHING IS ORGANIZED! REMOVE IT ALL AND GO BACK TO THE OLDER STYLE!

ihateimports87
Aug 18, 2008 at 11:05 am

I DONT FUCKING LIKE IT, PUT IT BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS!, IF YOU HAVE TO MAKE IT AN OPTION TO USE, MAYBE HAVE THE PEOPLE THAT WASNT TO USE IT DL IT TO THERE PAGE OR SOMETHING!!!!

Aug 18, 2008 at 10:07 am

Hi Guys,

Please change back to the old system.

Do put it plainly, it doesn’t work.

The last system was very user friendly and fair.

As Abe Lincoln once said: If it ain’t broke, dont fix it.

This new update is such a piece of shit! Can’t even get my images where I want them, and anything I want to change ends up getting totally fucked up. Really pissed off b/c now my ride page looks completely messed up, great going Car Domain!

GTwildfire
Aug 18, 2008 at 2:04 am

double clicking? that’s a pretty unintuitive thing to do in a web page. I tried right-clicking on a whim to no avail. The thumbnails above represent pictures. Nobody wants to plant thumbnails on their page, so it makes no sense at all to have the capability to drag thumbnails into the page in the first place. the act of dragging and dripping is universal, well except for in this new pic feature on CD.
-
That would be a great thing to mention in the editing page, wouldn’t you think?
-
Sincerest thanks for the tip, Ryan!
-
But I still think these new features have problems.

Nes
Aug 18, 2008 at 1:59 am

GT wildfire. it works best if you place the | symobol in the edit box and then double click on the picture. Then the picture will automaticly appear where you last left the | typing symbol

Ryan
Aug 18, 2008 at 1:56 am

Dragging photos in will only give you the 50×50 thumbnail image. Double clicking the image will give you a 250×250 wide image and then if you not what you are doing, you can change the image source to give you the real big image size!

GTwildfire

Has Mr. Anonymous brought in pictures, or is jumping to conclusions? Am I missing something here? PLEASE, if I’m not bring in pics right by dragging and dropping… TELL ME.

I love the new setup. All uou need to add now is a function that lets us reorder the page number. For example, if we wanted page 3 to become page 1 we could just move the order around.

GTwildfire
Aug 18, 2008 at 1:33 am

Well, I just tried using IE to edit the page. ROFL! It’s even WORSE. Pictures collide.
-
Back when I did I.T., I’d have had a new ###hole torn into me for taking something like this live, and I wouldn’t have a leg to stand on.

GTwildfire
Aug 18, 2008 at 1:25 am

These are my conclusions, using FireFox. I don’t use Microsquish’s browser.

No… color text or not, I’d say that editing my page has gotten HARDER. I am far from thrilled anymore. This, well sucks. Before I’d upload a picture and with the knowledge of the very basic commands get it displayed with no problem and total predictability in the final arrangement.
-
This editing interface REMOVES the impression of how the saved page will look. I noticed early on that hitting delete parked images NEXT TO each other in the editing screen. I thought it would be great to have pictures next to each other finally. THIS EDITOR DIDN’T DELIVER. The pictures remained in more or less the same arrangement as before.
-
The text and fonts are great, BUT good luck SEEING what the font you choose will look in real time. I’d call that a huge minus.
-
Then there’s that whole drag-the-pic and stretch-it-up thing. It simply DON’T WORK. I discovered why when I went in to edit the HTML source. It dragged the THUMBNAIL and referenced it! I ended up removing the THUMB from the filename and boosting the display property to 640X480, which of course pushed the right side of the image into oblivion in the saved page when viewed.
-
No… I’d say that CD was better off before rolling out this latest enhancement. I am sorry about raking you guys over the coals like this, but I really can’t see how anyone could approve this mess, which will affect over a half-million mambers.
-
On a last note, I’m gonna test the editing capabilities in Microsquish’s browser, in case it simply boils down to a lack of appreciation for competing browsers, which I also see as a major-league oversight.
-
Sorry, but I gotta call ‘em as I see ‘em.

GTwildfire
Aug 18, 2008 at 1:00 am

Um… WTF!
-
I click and drag a picture into the editing screen and get a thumbnail. U use the wonderful new stretch capability and the thumbnail stretches… and so do the pixels. There is no more seeing the anymore in the editing screen. Does that still work and if so, why the hell isn’t that still written somewhere for instruction?
-
My guess is that went to the wayside, but I’ll try a few things, including doing a search for instructions somewhere left by CD staff regarding the changes. You guys DID make up an instruction page somewhere… RIGHT? I guess I’ll find out and also discover how easy or hard it will be to find said information.

Kirk (Maserati Page Problems)
Aug 17, 2008 at 9:27 pm

I used to insert pictures by typing something like . If I go to my current page and attempt edit, I no longer any picture insertion instructions and this format just prints text on my page. The main boarder shows my pictures under a section which says “edit page TEXT”. How do I insert pictures into an existing page which has converted automatically to the new format?

I also get the same problem with the picture sizing as others have noticed. Apparently we can shrink the picture size, but not increase the size without distortion.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Kirk

Aug 17, 2008 at 4:53 pm

now there is only one problem. I used to be able to remember what number my next picture would be and now i cant do that. and i have ALOT of pictures. Now we just need a jump to last pic button for when were adding pics. then it would be perfect

man, the new system is hard to use! i like the old one, its better and simple to use.

Nes
Aug 17, 2008 at 1:35 pm

I agree with Stewart. It’s a very nice upgrade that CarDomain did! Like Ryan told me now you can pretty much do whatever you want with your page. But most people, unlike Stewart, are not willing to learn new things or are too technologicly challenged! If you stop complaining about you can’t do this and you can’t do that and actually ask other people (NOT just Ryan) how to do things, then I’m pretty sure you will enjoy this upgrade!

Great job CarDomain!

Now about those shirts…..

Stewart
Aug 17, 2008 at 1:27 pm

I wasn’t too happy with the new system at first…
.
It took awhile to get my first page back up and presentable.
.
.
However,
now that I have made it most of the way over that
damned learning curve (OK maybe part way),
I do like the new system a lot better.
.
The old system, was well, old.
.
It didn’t have anywhere near the flexibility of this new system.
.
Is it perfect?
.
No.
.
But it is 1000 times better.
.
.
I, for one, am very happy with the time and effort the
CarDomain team spends on making this site better and better
every year.
.
Yes, it took me the better part of a day learning how to make my page better…
.
But, it is better!
.
.
Man, I still can’t believe that I have font choices, colored text, font size choices, etc…
.
Heck, I can even underline now!
.
I haven’t even considered any of the advanced features we now have…
.
.
I don’t know about the rest of you,
but I’ve gotten over my initial shock and complaining.
.
It’s funny. I thought CarDomain had a server problem, so I emailed them telling them the site was not working correctly!
.
Anyway, my page now looks GREAT! I love the new software.
I am very happy that I have some flexibility.
.
And for those of you with a lot of text, pages, and photos; I feel your pain, as I have over 2000 uploaded pics, and 19 pages to re-do.
It’s gonna take me some time to do it…
.
Still, it’s going to be worth it in the long run.
.
.
Just my .02
.

This new system stinks. I liked the old way better…alot easier & alot faster to make quick updates. It seems like the new system is not very compatable with any of the stored page information from the old system.

I try to make simple changes and everything comes out screwed up. Some things need to be deleted and then re-entered to get the changes to take effect. I’ve spent countless hours building my page and now I have to totaly redo everything in the new format.

This really sux!

this upgrade f*cking sucks.now all my words and text are alined in the middle…and not spaced right compared to wat i want it.. it looks like this on the edit page:

Told u this car was a money pit

1800 for car
3000 for paint
1500 for motor

BUT this is wat it came out like:

told u this car was a money pit
1800 for car

3000 for paint
1500 for motor
nuthin lines up and it lookes like shit..i want an option to keep the old way of doin it..this is bullshit.and now itll take forever for people with slow computers to not only upload a picture..but also have to double click it..then move it around while the computer freezes and unfreezes frames..its bull f*cking shit!

Aug 17, 2008 at 2:52 am

Here’s a better solution. Give us a CHOICE to have it that way. Those of us that don’t want the extra “pain in the neck” editing like it the old way. I would rather NOT take a “websites for dummies” class just to update my page. I just like to get on, upload pictures (which takes a long time), edit my page easily and log off without the hassle of going back to my page because I don’t have enough commas or colons in the script.

Calichevylover
Aug 17, 2008 at 12:48 am

or when i try to change the order my page links are stacked in. I press enter and it double spaces. seems to happen with everything that was grouped together before the switch to new format

calichevylover
Aug 17, 2008 at 12:42 am

ok now gettin stuff to line up right is startin to be a pita…

-on the editing page it will show no gap but on the actual page some pictures will be 4-5lines apart

-I left aligned a picture and it shows up right aligned.

-etc

Ryan
Aug 16, 2008 at 11:56 pm

When you add your photo from the photo area you are only adding the 250 pixel wide image thus if you stretch it you will distort it. If you would like to use the big image you will need to substitute the full size image in place of the 250 image when editting the HTML.

Tony

Aug 16, 2008 at 10:18 pm

I can’t believe you guys did this to us! I tried saving my changes and everything looks retarded now. I have 30 pages, and your site is soooo slow when it comes to anything and there is no way in heck that I’m going to rewrite all of my pages, figure out everything, and reload all 800 pictures! You need to make this so that we can choose the old format or the new one. You need to make the new format consistent and compatible with the old format so when I save the page it doesn’t ruin all of my hard work. It’s sad that you guys are making it harder and harder to be a member of this site, and now it is impossible for me to continue being one…. if only there was a way to delete your profile for good!

Ryan
Aug 15, 2008 at 6:22 pm

Cool, it sounds like things are working. You see the first time you edit your page after the update everything gets squished down to one line. From there all you need to do is set the page up like you want it to look. It’s a little work up front but in the end we think everyone will be able to make more attractive ride pages and express themselves better.

If you guys want to know how I did anything on my ride pages, just PM me.

I noticed the change this morning.
.
All the pics on my first page disappeared :(
.
And the text was all run together in a run-on sentence.
.
I’m redoing my first page today…
.
.
I can see that it will be much better and much easier
to use the site.
.
.
Some of us who have been on Cardomain for awhile, and have learned
the “CarDomain style” of image inserting and text will have
to re-learn.
.
Man, I must be getting old!
